lavonzell nicholson, operations director
Playing sports and finding new things to do have always been a part of Lavonzell' s life. An avid athlete for years, including a stint as small forward of her college basketball team, she moved on to managing sports camps for her local parks and recreation department. When the opportunity came up to create her ideal job - playNOLA was born. What better way to stay active, meet new people, and just have fun! The ultimate hostess, she hopes that you will enjoy playNOLA too.
Lavonzell also has a couple of degrees but ask her about them when you are on the field.
Michelle "Kickball Queen" May, league coordinator
Because she has always been exceptionally tall, Michelle has spent most of her life being convinced by various coaches that she is destined to be a star athlete - -and failing. After various attempts at basketball, softball, volleyball, and track (long legs do not equate to being good at hurdles), Michelle was finally able to find a place for her unique talents with PlayNOLA, where players are judged not only by athletic ability but also social ability… which is how Michelle really is star.
After graduating from LSU and moving to New Orleans, Michelle discovered PlayNola and has since been involved with everything from Volleyball to Flag Football. When she isn’t spiking and scoring touchdowns, Michelle also excels in after game socializing, planning team happy hours, and being the ultimate LSU fan.
Jake Bywater, league coordinator
Sport is the one constant in Jake’s life. From the usual leagues as a child and college ice hockey in California, to adult leagues of cricket and soccer in England, sport in any form was a necessity.
Upon moving to New Orleans, one of the first things Jake looked for was a place to play a variety of sports. His search ended when he found playNOLA.
A former high school and community college teacher, Jake is following new paths as a league coordinator with playNOLA.
Jake also serves in the community as the President of Engineers Without Borders – New Orleans.
