The Thursday Night Basketball playoffs at Howe Park delivered everything fans could ask for: upsets, dominant performances, and a championship run that culminated in one team proving they were peaking at exactly the right time. When the dust settled after a full night of playoff action, it was the #3 seeded Boss Ballers standing atop the league as champions.
The evening began with the quarterfinal round, where both higher seeds took care of business. #4 Congestive Hoop Failure advanced past #5 Team A in straight games, while #3 Boss Ballers handled #6 Half Court Heroes with a convincing two game sweep of their own. With both teams moving on, the stage was set for a pair of semifinal matchups against the division's top two seeds.
That's when the bracket was turned upside down.
In one semifinal, #4 Congestive Hoop Failure pulled off the night's biggest upset, knocking off #1 seed Bots in a hard fought three game battle. On the other side of the bracket, #3 Boss Ballers left little doubt, sweeping #2 Green FN to earn their place in the championship game. Suddenly, the top two seeds were gone, and the title would be decided between the third and fourth seeds.
While Congestive Hoop Failure had built plenty of momentum with their upset victory over the number one seed, Boss Ballers saved their best basketball for the championship.
