The Wednesday Night Bocce playoffs brought together the league's top five teams for a championship battle at Grant Park, and the postseason did not disappoint.
The night began with #4 seed Delta Breeze taking on #5 seed Body by Bocce in the quarterfinal round. Delta Breeze came out rolling, earning a 15-6 victory to keep their championship hopes alive and advance to face the top seed. Waiting for them was #1 Bocceballics, who had been one of the league's strongest teams all season. Bocceballics proved why they earned the top spot, handling Delta Breeze 15-5 to secure their place in the finals.
On the other court, #2 seed Barack Obocce squared off against #3 seed The Bocce Bunch in what turned into the closest matchup of the semifinals. The Bocce Bunch refused to go away, but Barack Obocce held on in a nail biter, earning a hard fought 15-12 victory and punching their ticket to the championship match.
That set up a dream final between the league's top two seeds: #1 Bocceballics and #2 Barack Obocce. With the title on the line, both teams delivered a championship-worthy performance. Bocceballics appeared poised to complete their playoff run, but Barack Obocce stayed within striking distance and capitalized when it mattered most. In the closest game of the entire postseason, Barack Obocce edged out Bocceballics 15-13 to capture the Wednesday Night Bocce Championship.
Congratulations to Barack Obocce on an outstanding playoff run and a well earned championship! Taking down the #3 seed in a semifinal thriller and then defeating the #1 seed in a dramatic final is no easy feat. And a shoutout to Bocceballics for a fantastic season and championship appearance. Entering the postseason with work to do, Bocceballics opened the night in the quarterfinals against the #5 seeded The Loonatics and wasted no time making a statement, rolling to a dominant 15-3 victory to punch their ticket to the semifinals.
That set up a clash with the regular season’s top seed, #1 Barack Obocce, but Bocceballics kept the momentum rolling. In one of the biggest upsets of the night, the #4 seed knocked off the top-ranked squad by another convincing 15-5 scoreline. On the other court, #2 Delta Breeze handled business against #3 Team A, cruising to a 15-3 win to secure their place in the championship match.
With the title on the line under the lights at Grant Park, Bocceballics and Delta Breeze battled for the crown. Delta Breeze brought the energy, but Bocceballics had been locked in all evening and completed their championship run with a 15-10 finals victory. Three matches, three wins, two upset victories, and one trophy later, the #4 seeded Bocceballics officially rolled their way to Wednesday night bocce glory.
