Last night we wrapped up a great season of our Thursday night cornhole league! All four playoff teams arrived ready to play, bringing their A-Game as they hoped for a title.
In the first round, the #1 seeded What's My Favorite Corn faced off against the #4 Unicorns. WMFC came in with a 7-1 record, their only loss to "Into the Storm" way back in week 2. The Unicorns came in with a record of 5-1-2, only losing to the #3 seeded Holy Holers. This epic first round went back and forth, splitting the first four games two games apiece. Finally, WMFC prevailed to move on to the championship round.
The #3 Holy Holers faced off against the #2 Get in the Hole and almost swept them, but Get in the Hole was able to keep their name in the game by winning one. Holy Holers moved on to the finals with a 3-1 victory in the best of five match.
Holey Holers had two losses during the regular season, one of which was a 4-0 loss to WMFC. This was their chance at revenge or redemption, whatever you want to call it. What’s my Favorite Corn tried to sweep them again, but Holy Holers fought hard, winning a game and preventing the shutout. Ultimately What’s my Favorite Corn kept their momentum and won 3 games to become the new Thursday night cornhole champs.
Congrats to What's My Favorite Corn!
Last night we wrapped up our Tuesday cornhole season at Track 7 Natomas with some on point bag tossing. Coming into the playoffs, the top 4 teams were neck and neck, having traded losses all around, or close to it.
The 1 seed, Somewhat Subpar, came in trying to defend their past championships. After winning the past two seasons, they entered the night with a 7-1 record, their only blemish being a loss to the #2 seeded Good Guys.
First, they had to get by the #4 seeded "Just Baggin'", who entered with a 3-3-2 record, having drawn ties against the afore mentioned Good Guys and #3 seed Red Foreman's Foot. This matchup went smoothly for our defending champs, with a 3-0 win.
The next semi-final featured the Good Guys versus the perennial contenders and multiple champion Red Foreman’s 🦶 (they said they have 5 championships, but the website says many more!). Red Foreman came in with a 5-2-1 record, with their two losses coming against the Good Guys and Somewhat Subpar. In round 1, they quickly got revenge against the Good Guys, dispatching them 3-0, setting up a showdown with the defending champs.
The championship matched up our two time defending champs, Somewhat Subpar, against long time champions Red Foreman’s 🦶. After cruising through the first round, Somewhat Subpar couldn't keep their momentum going, while Red Foreman’s 🦶came out on fire. Red Foreman’s 🦶redeemed themselves after finishing 2nd the past two seasons, coming out on top again for the umpteenth time. Congrats Red Foreman’s 🦶 on your championship!

In the first round, they faced "One Shot, One Beer, One Bag" and won 3-0, setting up a showdown with Team B, who beat Humpdaze 3-1, for the championship.

Congrats Glory Holes, on a well deserved championship!
After an extended hiatus, we wrapped up our Tuesday night cornhole league with some exciting matchups in our playoff bracket.
In the first round, Somewhat Subpar faced off against Game of Throws for the third week in a row (quirk in the scheduling!). Two weeks ago, they defeated them 3-1, but last week Game of Throws battled to a 2-2 tie. Would they take the next step and achieve victory? Not this time. Somewhat Subpar resumed their winning ways and won 3-1.
In our other semi-final round, Gone Fishin' had a chance to regain respect after a 4-0 loss to We So Corny last week. This time, they came to play and won 3-1, setting up a showdown with Somewhat Subpar.
Somewhat Subpar was now 7-0-2 heading into the championship round. One tie being last week against Game of Throws, and the other tie earlier this season against Gone Fishin'. This time, Somewhat Subpar rose to the occasion, winning 3-1 and finishing an undefeated season on top.
Congrats to Somewhat Subpar, and all our fun teams this season!
Last night we finished perhaps the longest cornhole season in history, at least in Xoso history. In a season that began in early 2020, it took 14 months to reach a conclusion. After being shut down for 13 months, Sacks N Hole came out ready to show the world who's boss, going undefeated down the stretch to head into the playoffs with a 6-2 record and the #1 seed.
They faced off against "Fun", who battled hard, but fell to the eventual champions 3-1. Then Sacks was up against the other semi-final winner, the #3 seed, "My Sac or Yours", who squeezed by in an epic 5 game battle against #2 "Awesome Cornhole Club of Sacramento". After emerging with the victory, "My Sac or Yours" didn't have anything left and fell to Sacks N Hole 4-0 in the finals.
Congratulations to Sacks N Hole on a well deserved victory, and to all our teams for a great season! Thanks for sticking by us through this tough year!
#3 Seed "Cash Only" won in 2 straight games to win the ASL Winter 2021 Cornhole League Championship over #4 Seed "The Ringers" both teams beat the higher ranked teams in the semi-finals to face off at Savannah River Brewing for the championship
