Daj Mahbal Claims Championship

It did not come easy, but Daj Mahbal prevailed to take the Fall Dodgeball League Championship. They did not receive a first-round bye which meant they had to play early, and often. Already having played 2 games and a grueling semi-final match, they met Cool Name Pending in the championship. Neither team ever got into a rhythm which made it a very close match. with only 2 minutes left in the game and the score 3 to 3, the championship match came down to the last game. It was only fitting the Daj Mahbal made quick work of Cool Name Pending in the final game because they made quick work of most of their opponents tonight. Outstanding effort and season, Daj Mahbal!

Dodgefathers Rally for Divison 2 Title

The Dodgefathers played a very tough match to take the Division 2 title. It was not ever easy for them, but they made the key throws and dodges to secure the win. Reservoir Dodge gave them a great fight, but The Dodgefathers proved to be too much as they pulled away 4 to 2 to secure the title. Great season, Dodgefathers!

  Maroon 5

Champs

"Maroon 5" is our league champion, taking down "Team Hulk" in our last ever Dodgeball league! We had a number of quality squads, but it was "Maroon 5" who would come out of a pretty tough group of playoff teams to be crowned league champs!

Our first game of the night featured our soon-to-be champs taking on "Adult Friend Finder" in the 1 v 4 match-up. In game 5, with the match tied, "Maroon 5" picked up a crucial win in sudden death to take a 3-2 lead. After the win they'd never look back, eventually winning 5-2.

The next game of the night featured "Team Hulk" and "Mooseknuckles" in a match that featured two evenly matched teams. Unfortunately for "Mooseknuckles" it would be an early, disappointing exit, losing to "Team Hulk" 5-2.

In the championship it was all about "Maroon 5" as they jumped on "Team Hulk" early and never let up. They were firing (and throwing) on all cylinders and built up a 5-1 lead. "Team Hulk" fought back to make it 5-2, but by then it was too little, too late.

Overall "Maroon 5" finishes with an impressive 9-1 record. Their lone loss was on the receiving end of an 8-2 "Team Hulk" smash, but other than that it was all wins. They would also finish with a +22 point differential, good for 3rd in the league. "Team Hulk" and "Mooseknuckles" finished slightly above them wit ha +25 and +23 respectively.

Congratulations to "Maroon 5" on the championship victory. These playoffs were certainly a fitting end to our dodgeball leagues!

The Bold Strategy Cottons & Highly Dodgy

Softcore: Things started slow for the Bold Strategy Cottons in the softcore championship match. After dropping two of the first three games and finding themselves down early in game four, it was looking good for Science of the Lambs, but a momentum shifting catch and a hit would turn the tide and Bold Strategy Cottons would win that game and the next two to all but cement their title. The clock would run out during game seven so despite Science of the Lambs being victorious in that game, Bold Strategy Cottons held on to the advantage and took home the championship!

Midcore: First off, without the effort of Anastasiya Tarnauskaya in their opening game of the evening, Highly Dodgy would not have even found themselves in a position to win it all. Down to herself against four in a winner-take-all game, she would come out on top. Highly Dodgy was then able to mount a comeback in the championship match after finding themselves quickly down two games. They would get on the scoreboard in game three, but after game four found themselves down three games to one. With time working against them during game five, Highly Dodgy quickly needed a win. They would get it with just under three minutes remaining on the clock, enabling game six to start and giving Highly Dodgy all the chance they would need to force the greatest two words in sports: game seven! Riding the wave of momentum they had gathered winning the last two games, Highly Dodgy showed no fear despite finding themselves down early again. After a well timed flurry knocked out a couple key players from Balls to the Wall and seized the advantage for Highly Dodgy, they wouldn't look back and eventually would take the midcore championship!

Congratulations to both Bold Strategy Cottons and Highly Dodgy for your respective victories and thank you to ALL of the teams for making yet another successful dodgeball season.

  Oh, The Places You'll Throw

Oh, The Places You'll Throw
Epic comeback!

Congratulations to Oh, The Places You'll Throw as they pulled off a comeback for the ages in an epic championship dodgeball match Thursday evening. Brave Little Throwsters came out very strong quickly taking the first two games. However, in a close but pivitol game three, Oh, The Places You'll Throw would win on a fantastic display of honesty, which deserves major props, as despite the call being "ball first", the final player of Brave Little Throwsters admitted to the ball hitting his hand first. Brave Little Throwsters would then take game four and seemingly had it all but wrapped up. With five minutes to go game five began and the awareness of the clock was shown by Oh, The Places You'll Throw. They came out aggressive and with a gameplan to quickly earn themselves a game six and a shot to tie the match. A great game six performance brought them back sending the series to a winner-take-all game 7. During game 7 with Oh, The Places You'll Throw down 5-4 in players, Tim Gheen made a momentum shifting one-handed "dad catch" while holding another ball. With a hit on Brave Little Throwsters just seconds after, Oh, The Places You'll Throw seized a 5-3 advantage on the floor and never gave momentum back as they picked off their opponents one by one and netted themselves a dodgeball championship. Fantastic game to end another great dodgeball season!

Dodgeball - Thursdays (Fall '18)

  Dodgeholics

(Dodge)Ball is Life!

The "Dodgeholics" are our latest dodgeball champion in stunning fashion! As the #2 seed heading into the playoffs they were certainly a great team, however it was tough to believe anybody would take down "Mooseknuckles". As the defending champion there were entering the playoffs undefeated and were looking to stay that way.

It was a pretty rocky regular season for the "Dodgeholics", going 3-3 to start their season. However, they went on a bit of a hot-streak to close it out, winning their last two games and pushing them into the playoffs as the #2 seed.

As the #2 seed they took on "Adult Friend Finders", a squad with a great mix of veterans and newcomers. "Dodgeholics" got out to an early 2-0 lead, but a clutch shot by Jeff near the end of game 3 kept his team in the game. Were it not for that, things could have gotten out of hand. Instead, the "Dodgeholics" stayed the course and defeated "Adult Friend Finders" 4-3.

In the championship our heroes were tasked with taking down the undefeated squad "Mooseknuckles" who were fresh off an easy 5-2 1st round victory. Led by their stoic captain Serge and John's fierce battle cries the "Dodgeholics" got out to an early lead. Unlike their previous game though they were able to keep their opponent at bay for the entirety of the game. The "Mooseknuckles" were able to get to within two points by making it a 4-2 game near the end, but the "Dodgeholics" put the final nail in the coffin by winning a convincing 7th game. They'd pick up one last game to make it a 6-2 final.

Congratulations to the "Dodgeholics" on an incredible run, playing up to their potential and them some to bring down a nearly invincible opponent. They weren't all that invincible though, as proven pretty handily by the "Dodgeholics". We wish them the best of luck as they try to defend their title this coming season. Well done!

Redemption!

The "Power Rangers" are our latest Thursday Dodgeball champion, knocking out "Team C" in the championship game by the final score of 5-2. While the game was neck-and-neck for a while, the "Power Rangers" broke the 2-2 tie, pulling ahead and never looking back.

But, before the game was in hand, there was potential for disappointment. In the 4th game of the match there was a pretty major turnaround. "Team C" was at a disadvantage in players with just 1 remaining on the court, and thanks to a couple of unforced errors pulled out the win. However, as champions do, the "Power Rangers" overcame those errors and now find themselves on the podium.

All season long it was a two horse race, with both the "Power Rangers" and "Team C" destined for a rematch of last season's championship game. As the top two teams all season, each also breezed through their first round games with ease, setting up for a very entertaining final.

In all the "Power Rangers" had a season fitting for a champion, leading the league with a +31 point differential and ending with a 9-1 record. Their lone loss came to "Team C" in the first week of the season, but after that it was nothing but wins. Congratulations to them on the well-deserved championship!

Silver Bullets

The Silver Bullets made huge leaps in their dodgeball abilities this season. In their first season they flashed their athletic ability but were a little rough around the edges when it came to strategy and teamwork. This season it all started to come together and they really took off as a team. Most of their games were close throughout the season but their heart and their want was able to pull them through some of the toughest games they had. In the playoffs this trend continued, as they were able to win nail biter after nail biter thanks to both great teamwork and a couple clutch individual performances. All in all, they showed great heart and played well all season and erre ultimately rewarded for it.

Back to Back

"Dodgeholics" is our Division B champion for the second straight season, this time knocking off a tough team in "Blue Balls of Fury".

As last season's champ, "Dodgeholics" were once again the favorite to take the division. They showed that early in the season as well, coming out of the gates with three straight big wins. Things got shaky midway through the season though, with "Dodgeholics" losing by 1 point in back to back games to "Alcoballics Anonymous" and "Blue Balls of Fury".

But, instead of wallowing in their losses, "Dodgeholics" did what a champion does; get back to winning. That they did, picking up an 8-1 win and getting themselves back on the path to a second title.

In the championship game it was "Dodgeholics" who once again prevailed, this time by the score of 5-3. While the end score seemed close, our champs were in control the entire match, never wavering from the confidence in their championship pedigree.

Congratulations to "Dodgeholics on their back to back titles!

You Better 'B'-Lieve It!

"Team B" is our Thursday Division A champion, taking out "Ash Does Hair!" in a nail-biting 4-3 championship win.

As the top team from the regular season "Team B" had a first-round bye, meaning they were automatically in the championship game. Fighting for the other spot in the final were "Ash Does Hair!" and "Team D". In that game "Team D" was up early, but "Ash Does Hair!" fought until the end and was able to squeak by with a 5-4 win.

In the championship game things were close from start to finish. That continued until the waning moments of the final game, where "Team B" was down to their final player. With less than 30 second left on the clock their final player on the floor was able to hit a shot, bringing everyone back into the game! In just a split second that shot drastically turned the tide of a game which was nearly lost. With just a few second left on the clock "Ash Does Hair!" had one player remaining, who unfortunately for them was unable to save her team from the depths of despair. Eventually time would expire, and with the final win it was "Team B" who won the match 4-3.

Congratulations to "Team B" on the thrilling championship win!

Daj Mabals Wins Dodgeball Title
1st place vs 2nd place for the trophy

The number 1 seed, Daj Mabals, and the number 2 seed, Don't Stop Ballieving, made their way into the championship game. These two teams had intense battles all season long and now the trophy was on the line. Don't Stop Ballieving had a hard fought 7-game victory in their semi-final against Dodge This. The advantage and momentum seemed in place for a possible upset of number 1. Daj Mabals had coasted to a 4-0 victory in the their semi-final game against Hard Targets and had been sitting for 45 minutes prior to the final. The startup was intense and both sides looked for the advantage. Don't Stop Ballieving came out hot and knocked out 1 or 2 players from the start, but Daj Mabals was too much in the end. When it seemed momentum was on the side of Don't Stop Ballieving, Daj Mabals would get a catch and increase their numbers. The matches were back and forth, but in the end Daj Mabals picked'em off one-by-one and came away with the sweep.

Sweet Revenge

The "Dodgeholics" are our top team in Division B, beating out "Teal-quila" in the championship by the slimmest of margins, 5-4. Throughout the season these two teams were the top championship contenders, with "Teal-quila" finishing atop the regular season standings and securing the bye to the title game.

All season long "Teal-quila" had "Dodgeholics" number, posting a 3-0 record during the regular season against the eventual champs. But, regular season standings only get you so far, and when it came down to the most important game of the season the "Dodgeholics" were the better team.

Congratulations to "Dodgeholics" on their Division B championship, just a season removed from finishing 2nd in a heart-breaking 5-3 title game loss. This win certainly avenges last season's loss, and we look forward to their title defense next season!

'C' Ya Later!

"Team C" has taken our Division A championship, knocking out two tough teams to be crowned league champions. As the #2 they didn't get the bye, but instead knocked out "The D" 5-3 to make it to the league final. There they took on "50 Shades of Greg" and cruised to a 6-2 win, taking down the top team from the regular season with relative ease. Things were close for a little while, but a couple of clutch wins shored up the title.

All season "Team C" knew they were a top team in the division, riding at the top of the standings until an unfortunate forfeit dropped them to second. That was thanks in part to a mini slump they hit during the season, dropping back to back matches.

Despite the tough competition though, they didn't let that slow them down. When push came to shove they were the team to beat all along with their consecutive playoff victories. That includes the most important one of all, the championship. Congratulations to "Team C" on the Division A title!
