Last Sunday and it was a pretty one, weather and game wise. GGA would take on a tough Pitches team. Lock down D from both sides but GGA started to put a couple on the board and wouldn’t look back.
Team effort with everyone making plays and getting on or knocking off the bases. We’ll played and deserved GGA. Nice season and teamwork!
Sunny Sunday for Dusty Balls and Team Turnt. DB didn’t have a first game but came in warm anyway, knocking off the dust. Leading early and shutting it down on D, it was a team effort with some big plays and kicks!
Over the head slams we’re the difference in this one, clearing bases and gaining mojo, they weren’t so Dusty anymore.

Ball Busters came into Thursday night with a difficult task ahead of them. Starting with the play-in round, the #4 seed needed 3 wins in a row if they were going to take home the title. After 2 innings of that first game it seemed like their night might be ending early, as they fell behind 7-0 to On The Cusp. But in the 3rd inning something changed, as they scored the maximum 7 runs to tie the game, and eventually pulled ahead late in the game for an 11-9 victory.
The Semi-Finals brought the most surprising result of the evening in a matchup against the undefeated powerhouse, Shawn Kemp. Ball Busters jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back. They led by as much as 12 runs before holding off a last inning rally for 13-7 victory. Brittany K led the way on defense at 3rd base, converting several force plays for outs and starting a key double play in the 6th inning on an unfortunate baserunning mistake by their opponents.
The final test was against veteran team Ballsagna in the championship. Ball Busters trailed for most of the game, but eventually took the lead in the 5th inning and never gave it back. A 1-2-3 7th inning secured the 11-9 victory and the title. Great job, guys and girls!

It was great getting to watch “We thought this was Softball” this season. They won every game this season and played with good sportsmanship. When they were winning by a lot during the regular season, they were very polite to the other teams and did not run up the score. They had a few really close games in the playoffs. In the semifinals they were losing 16-2 in the 5th inning and rallied back to win it 19-18. Today they were able to secure the championship, winning 10-4, led by Sam (player of the game) who had an amazing catch in the outfield.

The game came down to the wire, with Portland Llamas scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to get within 1 run of tying the game with only 1 out and a runner on 2nd. After playing their way into the title game with six o'clock victory over The Leftovers, Ball Handlers takes down the top-seeded Cats! in a defensive battle for the Division 2 title. And defense was the name of the game, as Ball Handlers defenders covered all parts of the field leaving very few holes for Cats! to exploit. Ball Handlers came a long way from the beginning of the season to finishing as Division 2 champs, openly wondering how they had come this far from where they started. With tenacity, athleticism, and a collective mind for sports which enabled them to learn the ins and outs of kickball, that's how!

What a championship game in the heatwave! We had a thrilling game where the victors took an early 2-run lead. The Base Gods came storming back and took a 1-run lead before the Violent Chubbies put up a lead that insurmountable. The champions had some stellar plays in the field including a fantastic pickup by their first basemen by the tips of his fingers. We understand the first basemen and an outfielder are getting married soon and think this was a great sending! In a game that was close up until the 6th inning, Squirrels made many tough plays, and had clutch performance from Juan in the outfield. Reffing this game I don’t think there was a ball kicked to the outfield that he did not catch. Along with his great performance, he kept a great attitude throughout the game.

It took just two playoff games for the Slide Right Ins to avenge both the blemishes on their record. After tying the Feelin' 22s in the final week of the regular season, the Slide Right Ins decided that they needed to pick up their offense in the playoffs. Their defense held true and held the 22s to the same number of runs, but they doubled their offensive output beating them 8-4.
In the championship game, they were looking to avenge a 14-4 regular season loss. They would do so by jumping out to a quick 6 run lead in the first inning and never looking back. 7SE tried to catch up, with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, but the early lead was just too much for them to overcome and the SRI's cruised to a championship victory.

“Check Out Our Balls” are the Downtown Kickball Champions of the Spring ‘22 season, after defeating “Pitches Be Brazy” 5-2!
"Check Out Our Balls" entered the the final week as the #2 seed and one of the favorites to take home the championship. Their offense was the main reason they finished at the top of their division, but their real MVP during the championship was their defense. “Pitches Be Brazy'' came out in the first inning and scored two quick runs to take an early lead in the championship. It looked like “Pitches Be Brazy’s” offense was going to be unstoppable, but “Check Out Our Balls” made a couple miraculous plays to hold them to only two runs. After that first inning, “Check Out Our Balls” played lock down defense and did not allow “Pitches Be Brazy” to score another run. It was a defensive battle for most of the game, but “Check Out Our Balls” finally broke the seal and scored three runs to take the lead in the 4th. “Ptiches Be Bazy” played their hearts out, but the “Check Out Our Balls” defense proved to be too strong and won the championship 5-2!
Congratulations to “Check Out Our Balls” on becoming the Downtown Kickball Champions and winner of $50 to Streets Pub and Grub!
