"Hugh's Baby Blues" are our Division 2 champion, taking down the "Gunners" in a 2-1 dogfight. As the top team all season "Hugh's Baby Blues" had the first-round bye, and it definitely helped.
All season our champs were a force to be reckoned with, regularly defeating opponents by multiple goals.
In fact, their +24 point differential was head and shoulders above the rest of the league. The "Gunners" finished second in that category with a +16. If it weren't for a forfeit loss late in the season, this team could very well have been perfect.
Still, it was an impressive run to the top for "Hugh's Baby Blues". Congratulations on the dominant season!
"Snakes United" are our Division 1 champion, taking the league's top spot after a disappointing championship game exit last season.
It was a tough road to take the championship, having to go through both "Team Iceland" and "Team 1". They brought their 'A' game though, defeating "Team Iceland" 2-0 thanks to a combination of stalwart defense and great goalkeeping.
In the championship they took on the well-rested "Team 1", who had the fortune of the bye as the #1 seed. That didn't matter much to our champions though. Neither did the fact that they were 0-2 during the regular season to this team, dropping both games by just 1 goal. This time, when it mattered most, our champions were the winner, defeating "Team 1" by the score of 3-2.
Congrats to "Snakes United" on the run from the #3 seed to the championship podium!
"The Pick Me Ups" are our Division 3 champion thanks to an offensive explosion in the playoffs. They put up 14 goals in 2 games, enough to overwhelm both opponents.
Their first win of the night was an incredibly impressive 7-2 win over "Hangover 916", and that would set the tone for the night. They would eventually follow that up with a 7-4 defeat of the "Formerly In Shape Allstars".
Our champs definitely showed a propensity to get hot offensively, scoring at least 5 goals in six of their nine games. Even more impressive were their game highs for the season, scoring 7 twice (both in the playoffs) and even hitting the 9 goal mark in one game.
Congratulations to "The Pick Me Ups" on an incredible season and we wish them the best of luck in Division 2 next season!
"Team Iceland" has secured a second straight Thursday night title, defeating a strong "Silver Snakes" squad by the score of 2-0.
In the first meeting between the two, "Silver Snakes" took an easy 3-0 win over "Team Iceland". However, our grizzled, veteran squad didn't dwell on the loss come championship time, instead rising to the occasion and picking up the shutout.
Despite their strong title win, it wasn't an easy road from start to finish. "Team Iceland" started off the season strong with back to back 5-0 wins, but stumbled midway through the season in the form of a 6-1 loss to "11 Champions" followed by a 2-2 draw against "Red Hot Chili Kickers". Our champs were able to get back on the right foot with a 5-0 win to close out the season though, just in time for the championship game.
When they were on their game this season they couldn't be stopped, and nothing proves that more than their +11 point differential. In fact, in all five wins this season they shut their opponent out. In those wins they outscored their opponents by the score of 22-0!
Congratulations to "Team Iceland" on the second straight title! It's certainly a well-deserved one, taking down a number of great teams to make it to the top. Well done!
"Team ONE" is our Friday soccer champion, taking down "Injury Prone" 4-2 in last week's league title. Overall they finish with a perfect 10-0 season!
"Team ONE" was about as unstoppable as it gets this season, defeating six of their oponents by 5 goals. Even quality teams like "Net Six and Chill" didn't stand a chance, in a matchup that ended 5-1. The only real competitor this season was "Injury Prone" who stuck to within 2 goals in each of their losses. Besides those two games though "Team ONE" took care of business each and every time.
In all our champions finish with a +41 point differential. More impressively though is the difference between their number and that of 2nd place "Injury Prone", who racked up a respectable +21 differential of their own. Still, that just goes to show the difference, and just HOW GOOD "Team ONE" was this season!
Congratulations to "Team ONE" on the incredible season, and we wish them a happy holiday!
"Team Iceland" is our newest Thursday night league, dethroning the "Silver Snakes" after they had taken back to back titles. This was also the third time in a row the two teams have faced each other in the finals, so the win has to feel extra great to finally get revenge. It wasn't an easy one either, with "Team Iceland" having to do what no other team had done all season; score on the "Silver Snakes".
Both "Team Iceland" and "Silver Snakes" were clearly the top teams this season and it wasn't close. This is especially true for our champs, who handily defeated "09 Champions" 6-1 in their first playoff game of the night. Despite their good 5-3 regular season record the "09 Champions" were simply outclassed.
In the championship the undefeated "Silver Snakes" were looking to make it 3 straight wins over "Team Iceland" on the season, but our champs had other ideas. Instead, they did what hadn't been done all season, put goals in the net against "Silver Snakes". And while the defending champs were without their starting keeper for the playoffs, they took the loss in stride, ceding defeat to the better team.
In fact, a small shout out to that keeper, Jared, for notching 8 clean sheets through the regular season. We've seen a lot of incredible things these past few years in our leagues, but that has certainly never been done.
Most importantly though congratulations to "Team Iceland" on getting back to the top of the podium! After losing back to back title games to the "Silver Snakes", this championship was definitely hard fought and well-deserved.
"Plan B" is our latest Tuesday night soccer champion, taking out "Rebels FC" in the finals by the score of 4-2.
In the first round of the playoffs "Plan B" took care of business, defeating "Back That Pass Up" 3-1. On the other half of the bracket through "Rebels FC" shocked "United", taking down the top team from the regular season in penalties by the score of 5-4.
In that championship game "Plan B" was as stoic as ever, defeating a hopeful "Rebels FC" squad that was riding high after their upset. They put up a good fight, but "Plan B" was just too good.
Overall "Plan B" finishes with an 8-1-1 record on the season, thanks largely in part to their outstanding defense. In their 10 games, our champs would pick up 5 clean sheets, including three straight to start the season. Also, the two goals allowed in the championship game was the most they allowed all season. In total they allowed just 5 goals!
Congratulations to "Plan B" on win! It definitely has to feel good to get back to the podium after a disappointing first round exit in the fall league. Nicely done!
Jugs and Thugs reached the finals after knocking out Augusta United but they were no match for the speed, ball handling, and shooting of PSG. PSG thoroughly defeated Jugs and Thugs with a score of 5-1. You could hear the shouts of "Goooaallllll!" throughout Dyess Park. PSG was ecstatic about their win and proceeded to take individual personal photos with the trophy lasting almost as long as the game!
All the players are looking forward to the next season of soccer with ASL.
A special thank you to Mellow Mushroom for their generous sponsorship of this league.
The "Benchwarmers" are our Division 1 champion, taking out a couple of tough contenders on their way to the league title. In the first round of games they made quick work of "Team ONE", defeating them in a high-scoring 8-4 affair. Their championship game opponent, "Snakes United", also made quick of their opponent "Team Iceland" in a 6-1 route.
With a championship set between two heavyweights, it was expected to be a close game. That came to fruition, with the "Benchwarmers narrowly coming out on top in the 3-2 final. No doubt a 3-1 win over this very team earlier on in the season gave them a bit of a mental edge when it came to yesterday's final.
All season the two were destined to meet, being in a class of their own within the division. They were also very similar, each finishing with 8 wins on the season and a +22 goal differential. From beginning to end they were neck and neck, making this championship game such a great matchup. In the end though it was the "Benchwarmers" who reign as league champion, defeating "Snakes United" not just once but twice for good measure, including the most important game of the season.
Congratulations to the "Benchwarmers" on another successful season!
"Phoenix FC" is our Division 2 champion, taking down "Hangover United" in a 7-4 shootout. Most title games tend to be low-scoring, but both teams were happy to play a high-paced game, leading to the final score. In fact, the seven goals scored was a season high for our champs.
All season "Phoenix FC" was at the top of the division, claiming the #1 seed for the playoffs. In total they finished with a 8-1-1 record, along with a league best +20 point differential.
They did hit a rough two-game patch midway through the season, first dropping a game to "The Goonies" by the score of 4-1 before drawing with the "Rubber Ducks" 2-2. "Phoenix FC" would get the last laugh against "Rubber Ducks" though, taking them down in the first round of the playoffs by the score of 3-1.
Aside from those two games, it was a nearly flawless season. Defense was their strength, holding opponents to 2 or less goals in 8 out of their 10 games. Those 2 timed they didn't they allowed 4 goals; the first was in their loss to "The Goonies" and the other in their championship win over "Hangover 916".
Congratulations to "Phoenix FC" on the incredible season!
The "Silver Snakes" are our Thursday soccer champion, taking down the formidable "Team Iceland" in a 1-0 nail-biter. Far and away the two best teams this season, a third match for the championship was always in the cards.
The low-scoring affair versus "Team Iceland" was to be expected, as the two regular season matchups between the teams ended had a grand total of 3 goals. Each team won once, with "Silver Snakes" winning 2-0 just last week. No doubt the win helped give them a mental boost going into the championship game.
Oddly enough, their title game win was a complete 180 from their first round game, a high-scoring 5-3 affair over "United". That can be expected though against a "United" squad who likes to play a bit fast and loose at times.
Overall "Silver Snakes" finishes as the top team, with a nearly perfect 9-1 record to go along with their league-leading +29 goal differential. Their big rival, "Team Iceland", ended just behind them at +26. At every turn, "Silver Snakes" bested them. Congratulations to "Silver Snakes" on the title, adding another championship to their names!
"United" is our latest Tuesday Soccer champion, knocking out "Ladybugs" by the score of 4-0 in a convincing title-game showing. That wasn't their only strong win though, taking down "Plan B" 3-1 in the first round as well.
Despite the #3 seed "United" was poised for a strong playoff run thanks to a league-high +12 goal differential in the regular season. When they were at the top of their game, they couldn't be stopped. That continued to prove true last night, ending with a +18 differential after winning their two final games by a total of 6 goals.
After a great start to the season and a 4-0 record "United" hit a bit of a rut. Their defense began to struggle and in turn they'd lose 3 of their next 4 games, finishing the season at 5-3. However, thanks to the strong start "United" was still able to get into the playoffs.
In the playoffs our champs got back to their strong defensive roots and took care of business in both games. In total they'd allow just 1 goal in their two playoff games.
Congratulations to "United" on the great season! We wish them the best of luck in defense of their title next season!
"Team International" is our latest Friday night soccer champion, defeating "Between the Cleats" in a thrilling league final by the score of 2-0.
Defense was the name of the game for "Team International" in Friday night's playoffs, picking up back to back clean sheets. First, our champs took out the veteran squad "Van Damme we're good" 2-0, before ultimately dethroning the defending champion by the same score. And, not only was the championship win great, but it was a nice bit of revenge after a both losing to and drawing with "Between The Cleats" during the regular season.
Overall our champs finish with an 8-1-1 recording, including a league high +23 goal differential. Their championship game opponent finished right behind them, and the two teams were the only ones to finish positive. For "Team International", defense was a huge factor in that differential. After giving up 7 goals in the first two games, they would only allow 8 more TOTAL through their final 8 of the regular season, which includes the playoffs.
Congratulations to "Team International" on the incredible season! Well done!
Two titans of soccer met on the pitch on August 27. They battled it out, but only one could emerge victorious. Jugs and Thugs won the Summer 2018 Coed ASL World Cup by beating out Z.F.G. FC 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the Fall 2018 season of Coed Soccer starting 9/17.
Special Thanks to Mellow Mushroom for providing gift cards to first and second place teams in the play-offs.
"Republic's Finest" and "Chingones" are our co-champions, with both teams ending on a high note this season. After a tough slog through the playoffs, both are much deserved champions.
For "Republic's Finest" it was a bit of a turbulent season. Oddly enough, not once did they win back to back games. However, after each loss they'd bounce back strong, showing the resilience of a championship squad. They'd squeak into the playoffs as the #4 team, but that's all they needed to make it to the top!
For "Chingones" it was a strong season, just losing twice and ending wit ha 6-2-2 record. A three game winning streak midway through the season solidified their playoff hopes. After that it was a tough grind through the playoffs, but thanks to their quality play they'd be crowned co-champions!
Congratulations to both squads on a fantastic season and we wish them luck next season!
"Snakes United" has once again taken the Division 1 title, once again supplanting themselves as the defending champion.
Being the defending champion isn't easy, especially when you've won it a few times in a row like they have. However, each time they've fended of quality squads, including a 2-0 championship win over "Team Iceland" this time around.
Their season started off with a bang, defeating "Scorpions FC" 8-4 and getting off to a flying start. They followed that up with two more wins before finally losing to "Team Iceland" in a high scoring 6-4 loss. After that it was all W's though, with "Snakes United" breezing through the rest of the season without a scare.
Congratulations to "Snakes United" on another incredible season!
The "Silver Snakes" are our Thursday soccer champions, squeaking by "Team Iceland" 2-1 in the final. Despite "Silver Snakes" becoming a clear-cut favorite midway through the season, "Team Iceland" was always a threat, especially as they looked to defend their title. Still, with the championship win "Silver Snakes" finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record, including a league high +29 point differential.
The "Silver Snakes" got off to a great start right off the bat, picking up a 6-2 win over playoff hopefully "Here 4 Beer". They followed that up with back to back 1 goal wins over eventual playoff teams, and from there our champs couldn't be stopped. In their final 5 regular season games the "Silver Snakes" would only allow 1 total goal! Talk about dominance.
In the playoffs, when the competition got fiercer, so did the "Silver Snakes". A strong 3-2 win over "United" saw them off to the championship game against a very determined "Team Iceland" looking to defend their title.
But, thanks to their incredible defense, "Team Iceland" couldn't score enough to win. Instead, two goals by "Silver Snakes" was enough to take the title. Congratulations to them on making it back to the top as league champion!
"Plan B" is our Tuesday Soccer champion, winning with a convincing 4-0 scoreline in the title game. The win caps off an undefeated season in which "Plan B" went 7-0-3. The win also marks back to back championships!
All season "Plan B" Was the top team, with their championship opponent "Team ONE" nipping at their heels. However, with each team in separate parts of the bracket, they'd have to win their first round game before they got to play each other.
The first round was a bit of an easier taks for "Plan B", winning their game 2-0 over "United". Meanwhile, "Team ONE" found themselves in an evenly matched game which would go to penalty kicks. Eventually they'd come out on top after winning 4-2 in penalties.
Perhaps the mental stress of pk's was too much for "Team ONE", but in the championship game it was all "Plan B". They took care of business, never needing to switch to a backup plan. Either way, congratulations to them on another successful season! We wish them the best of luck as they aim for a 3-peat!
Our latest Friday soccer champion is "Two balls, one ball...actually three balls... my bad", taking down "FC Sacramento" in a tight 2-1 final.
The two were always destined to meet in the final after being far and away the top teams this season. Both teams proved that in their first round games as well, with "Two balls, one ball...actually three balls... my bad" winning 4-0 and "FC Sacramento" also taking care of business with a 5-0 win.
In an earlier meeting this season we had a similar result, with Two balls, one ball...actually three balls... my bad" coming out on top, squeaking out a 4-3 win. No doubt that regular season win gave them the confidence to know they were the better team heading into the final.
That they were, defeating a strong "FC Sacramento" squad that led the league in goals scored. But, thanks to quality defense, "Two balls, one ball...actually three balls... my bad" is the league champion. Congratulations to them on a fantastic season!
"Team Iceland" is our Thursday soccer champion, closing out a strong season with a 3-1 finals victory over "One United". In all "Team Iceland" finished 8-1-1.
Throughout the season "Team Iceland" was on the hunt to get back into the championship game after losing there last season. A strong 3-1 win over "United" ensured they were on the right path early. However, "Team Iceland" stumbled a bit in their second game, falling 4-3 to their eventual championship game opponent, "One United". Fortunately for our champs, they would have the last laugh there!
After that loss "Team Iceland' went on a tear, remaining undefeated through the rest of the season. That included a run of three straight five-goal wins.
In the first round of the playoffs "Team Iceland" would knock off last season's defending champion "Silver Snakes" by the score of 3-1, before eventually taking down "One United" in the final.
Congratulations on a great season!
"The BW's" are our Division 2 champs, cruising to a 3-0 victory over "Los Chingones" in the league final.
Overall "The BW's" finished with a 9-0-1 record, far and away the best in the league. For comparision's sake the team that finished second, their championship opponent "Los Chingones", finished with a 6-4 record.
All season "The BW's" were in control. They were the only team to finish with a double-digit point differential, smashing everyone else with a +35. Through the season they only really ever hit one minor speed bump in their draw with "Redchester United". Other than that they were utterly dominant, winning six of their games by five goals, including 3 shutouts, one of which came in the championship game.
Congratulations to "The BW's" on their exceptionally dominant season!
"Snakes United" is our Division 1 champion for the second straight season, knocking out "Team Iceland" with a 2-1 victory in the championship. The win seals their perfect 10-0 record.
Throughout the season "Snakes United" was the team to beat, and in the end proving to be an unstoppable force. Their league-leading +27 point differential was thanks in part to their great offense. That was on display in their first playoff game on the night, a 7-2 shellacking of "Victorious Secret".
That's not to take away from their defense though, which some would say was even better! Overall they picked up two shutouts through the season, with the highest goals against in a single game all season was 2, which happened twice. No matter how you slice it they were the best all-around team this season.
Congratulations to "Snakes United" on a the perfect season!
Inter Real put up a valiant effort against En Fuego during the 7pm match, but couldn’t find the back of the net. En fuego absorbed the attack and made the most of their chances. Winning 4-0. In the 8pm match, Augchester shut out fc kick with a masterful defensive display. Denying fc kick many opportunities while playing on the counter attack, Augchester prevailed 2-1. The championship match between Augchester and fuego was a tight affair. Both teams, having already played one match, were testing their endurance. Augchester finished their opportunities while fuego struggled, hitting the post twice. The 2-1 result crowned Augchester champions of the Monday night league.
"Targaryen FC" is our Friday soccer champion, taking down "Team International" by the score of 4-2 in the championship. As the strongest team all season "Targaryen FC" was expected to perform well. Not only did they hit those expectations, they exceeded them.
Our champs started the season off hot, picking up back to back 3-0 and 4-0 shutout wins and surging to the top of the league table. After that they went ice cold, dropping two of their next three games to winnable opponents. However, our champs were resilient and ended the season strong with three straight wins, catching fire at the right time.
Overall it was defense that was the strength of this "Targaryen FC" squad, picking up 3 clean sheets through the season. In all they allowed just 8 goals all season, never giving up more than two in a game. Their defense was also the main reason they were the best in the league with a +14 point differential.
Congratulations to "Targaryen FC" on a fantastic season and for claiming the iron throne!
The "Silver Snakes" are our Thursday soccer champion, taking down two tough opponents to win the title. They finish with an 8-2 overall record, along with a +15 point differential which was good for second in the league.
For the "Silver Snakes", their playoff opponents were familiar foes, having faced and lost to both "United" and "Team Iceland" during the regular season. In fact they faced "United" twice, defeating them in the first week of the season and then falling 3-0 the week before the playoffs. Against the defending champion "Team Iceland" the would take a 5-1 beating.
But, the "Silver Snakes" didn't let that deter them. Instead they went out and took down "United" in their first playoff game by the score of 3-2. Finally in the championship game the "Silver Snakes" would win it in a thrilling 2-1 win over "Team Iceland", last season's champion.
Congratulations to the "Silver Snakes" on a fantastic season from start to finish!
"United" has won the Tuesday soccer league championship, defeating "Scorpions" by the score of 2-0 in last night's title game. It was an evening of upsets, with the top two seeds getting taken out early. That included a 1-0 win by "Scorpions" over "Back that pass up", followed by a thrilling 2-0 first round win by "United" over last season's champion "Plan B".
Defense was the key last night for "United", picking up back to back clean sheets on the way to their title. While they were more known for their offense this season, they kicked it up a notch with their defense to secure the title.
Overall it was an incredible season for "United" despite a slow 0-1-1 start. After that they went on a five game unbeaten streak, pushing themselves into the thick of the playoff bracket. A final regular season loss to "Plan B" bumped them down to third place, but "United" got the last laugh by knocking them out of the playoffs.
Congratulations to "United" on the fantastic season!
"Republic's Finest" has taken the Division 2 title, squeaking out a 4-3 championship game win over the #1 seed "Amigos FC". Both teams were in a tier of their own this season, and it seemed inevitable they'd meet for the league title. To make things a bit more interesting, "Republic's Finest" had just lost to Amigos FC in the final week of the regular season, getting shut out 4-0. That all came to fruition on Sunday, with "Republic's Finest" coming out on top in this battle of heavyweights.
All season "Republic's Finest" was the cream of the crop They'd finish with 9-1 record and a +24 point differential, both of which topped the league. They were also the top offensive team in Division 2, scoring 47 goals in their 10 games. In fact, only once all season were they held to below 4 goals in a game, and that was in their lone loss of the season. Congratulations to "Republic's Finest" on the championship, and we wish them luck as they move up to Division 1 for the upcoming season!
"Snakes United" is our Division 1 champion, fighting their way through a tough playoff bracket to come out on top. This all-star squad of Xoso veterans was stellar each and every week, picking up 8 wins and 2 draws through the regular season and playoffs. They also ended with a +31 point differential, 9 points higher than any other team in the league.
They entered the playoffs as the top seed thanks to a flawless regular season, knocking out "Victorious Secret" in a 4-0 shutout win to secure their spot in the final. On the other side of the bracket "Benchwarmers" defeated "Team Iceland" in a nail-biting 3-2 victory, setting up the championship.
In the championship match it was all "Snakes United", taking down the #2 seed with relative ease en route to a 5-2 win. The "Snakes United" offense was just too much to handle for "Benchwarmers", and in fact It was the first time all season they had given up more than 2 goals in a game. In all it was a much deserved win for the newest Division 1 champion, "Snakes United"!
The "Stallions" have won our latest Friday Soccer league, trampling their opponent in the championship game by the final score of 6-1. That followed a strong 4-2 win in their first match of the night, no doubt setting them up for success later on.
All season long the "Stallions" were a tough team to play against. They had a couple of losses early, dropping games to the "The Storm-Borns" and "ABCDE FC". However, they'd get the ultimate revenge against each, defeating them back to back in the playoffs to secure the championship. Even better, they did it as the underdog in both games!
Throughout the season defense was the key for our champions, despite their rough start. After a 2-2 first half of the season, their defense kicked into gear and didn't concede more than three goals after that point. Meanwhile, the offense found it's rhythm before hitting a snag in the final week of the regular season. Still, they entered the playoffs with plenty of momentum, and that took the form of two fantastic wins over higher ranked opponents to win the championship. Congratulations to the "Stallions" on a great season!
"Team Iceland" has struck gold for a second straight time, ending the season as league champion. Our defending champ fought off some tough competition last night to take the title a second time, with both games ending in 1-0 victories.
The path to back-to-back titles wasn't an easy one, with a match-up against "Silver Snakes" to start things off. Despite being the #4 seed "Silver Snakes" fought tough, but they were unable to muster a goal against the vaunted "Team Iceland" defense and got shut out.
In the championship game "Team Iceland" took on "United" in a high quality match. With neither team able to separate themselves, it took PK's to decide a winner. In PK's "Team Iceland" was the better team, finally outmatching their opponent and defending their title.
Defense was the key all season for "Team Iceland", continually holding teams to just a goal or two. That, combined with their top notch offense, helped them to a 9-0-1 record. Their one blemish on the season, a 5-5 draw to "Try Hards", was a odd scoreline, if nothing more than an anomaly. Either way "Team Iceland" is our two-time champion, and a well-deserved one! Congratulations!
"Plan B" is our latest Tuesday soccer champion, avenging a disappointing first round playoff exit last season.
Despite a great regular season it wasn't an easy path to the title last night. First they took on last season's champion "Back That Pass Up", defeating them in a tight 2-1 game. They followed that up with a thrilling game against "United" to decide the league champion, which ended with penalty kicks. Both games were close and hard-fought, but "Plan B" stuck it out with a tough defensive game plan.
"Plan B" finished with an undefeated 8-0-2 record, looking nearly unstoppable. Their +21 goal differential was miles ahead of the competition, showing they were equally great on offense and defense. Their two ties on the season were against their two playoff opponents, but it seems like they learned a thing or two in those regular season games that they were able to use in their playoff victories.
Congratulations to "Plan B" on a fantastic season, and we wish them the best of luck defending their title next season against some tough competition!
