“Team Iceland” are the Division 1 Champions of the Winter ‘23 season, after defeating “Benchwarmers” 2-0!
The finals were set and both of the top two teams in the division were ready to see who would be crowned the champions of Division 1 soccer. The 1 seed, “Team Iceland”, and the 2 seed, “Benchwarmers”, faced off in a very competitive championship game. The game started off evenly matched, but “Team Iceland” found their groove and scored two impressive goals before the end of the first half. “Benchwarmers” came out determined in the second half and kept putting pressure on “Team Iceland’s” defense, but “Team Iceland” stayed strong on the defensive end and did not allow them to score. “Benchwarmers” played their hearts out, but “Team Iceland” could not be stopped!
Congratulations to “Team Iceland” on becoming the Division 1 Soccer Champions of the Winter ‘23 season!
“Anti Football Football Club” are the Division 2 Soccer Champions of the Winter ‘23 season, after defeating “Jalisco FC” 5-1!
“Anti Football Football Club” came into the playoffs as one of the favorites to take home the title. Their incredible offense is why they finished as one of the top teams in their division, but their impressive defense and amazing teamwork was the reason why they made it to the finals. The championship started off very evenly matched, with neither team being able to pull away from the other. But everything changed when the “Anti Football Football Club” scored two unbelievable goals midway through the first half. “Jalisco FC” kept applying pressure to “Anti Football Football Club’s” defense, but “Anti Football Football Club” stayed strong and did not allow them to score in the first half. The second half started off as a defensive battle, but “Jalisco FC” was able to score a goal of their own to tie it up. It looked like the championship was up for grabs, but “Anti Football Football Club” turned up the heat and scored three more goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead. “Jalisco FC” played their hearts out, but “Anti Football Football Club” was just too hot to handle!
Congratulations to “Anti Football Football Club” on becoming the Sunday Soccer Champions of the Winter ‘23 season!
“Jacks FC” are the Division 3 Champions of the Spring ‘22 season, after defeating “Jr. Flamingos” 4-2!
It was the playoffs for Sunday soccer last night, and it did not disappoint! “Jacks FC” came out on fire in the championship and took an early lead with an impressive goal, but “Jr. Flamingos” came right back and scored an amazing goal of their own and tied the game up at 1-1. Both teams played their hearts out in the first half, and neither of them were backing down from one another. “Jacks FC” came out of halftime determined to score, and that's exactly what they did. “Jacks FC” scored another immaculate goal at the start of the second half and took an early 2-1 lead. “Jr. Flamingos” offense came alive right after “Jacks FC” scored, and continued to apply pressure to “Jacks FC’s” defense. “Jr. Flamingos” scored a goal to tie it up at 2-2 in the second half. It looked like the “Jr. Flamingos” were going to be crowned the champions, but “Jacks FC” had other ideas. “Jacks FC” were able to score two more goals late in the second half to take the lead, and they never looked back from there!
Congratulations to “Jacks FC” on becoming the Division 3 Champions Winter ‘23 season!
Look up!
It's a bird!
It's a plane!
It's a spy balloon!
It's... @atlantarocketfc! This group is absolutely SOARING lately, and after 8 seasons has entered the chat as one of the league's top teams. Tuesday's cup final victory over Net Six and Chill (more on them later) not only means they've accomplished a threeepeat, but also gives them 4 'ships in the last 5 seasons, and 5 total in team history. Tuesday's top flight has always been one of the most competitive leagues SOPFC offers, so to have this kind of success
Hard to believe it, but @mannys.fc hasn't been back to the Over-40 finals since the Fall of '21, a whole 7 seasons ago! This season was a tight one for the O-40s, with no teams having more than 4 regular season wins, and both of last season's finalists missing the playoffs entirely. A 5-0 blanking of Dad's Night Out in the semis, followed by a 2-1 win over 5-time champs Has-Beens earns Manny's their first ever trophy in The Old Folks division, and a 5th trophy overall to be displayed at @mannysgrantpark. See y'all next season!

While most championship posts for @netsixandchill_atl feel a bit evergreen, this latest title was definitely unique! Despite playing Coed ball in all of the squad's previous seasons, N6 Elite moved to Open league for the Winter season and... well, this is the evergreen part: the 3 seed took down both top seeds in their post-season matches to win the club's NINETEENTH trophy, which still tops the SOPFC record books for those keeping score at home. No other Coed team moving to an Open league has ever won their division, and if any squad was going to do it, it was always going to be this one. Nice job y'all, we're sure we'll see you soon for #20!
“Dragons” are the Thursday Soccer Champions of the Winter ‘23 season, after defeating “The Avengers” 6-5!
It was the playoffs for Sunday soccer last night, and it did not disappoint! “Dragons” came out on fire in the championship and took an early lead with an impressive goal, but “The Avengers” came right back and scored an amazing goal of their own and tied it up at 1-1. Both teams played their hearts out and scored two goals in the first half, and neither of them were backing down from one another. “Dragons” came out of halftime determined to score, and that's exactly what they did. “Dragons” scored another immaculate goal at the start of the second half and took an early 3-2 lead. “The Avengers” offense came alive right after “Dragons” scored, and continued to apply pressure to the “Dragons” defense. “The Avengers” scored two goals to go up 4-3 in the second half. It looked like the “The Avengers” were going to be crowned the champions, but “Dragons” had other ideas. They were able to score two more goals late in the second half to take the lead, and then they added one more right before the end of the game to ensure their victory in the championship. “The Avengers” kept it competitive, but “Dragons’s” offense proved to be too much for any team to handle!
Congratulations to “Dragons” on becoming the Thursday Soccer Champions!
The Over-30s have had only 3 different title holders in the last 8 seasons, and recent finalists and usual suspects @reynoldstownfc won 3 of those. Not So Old New Boys clearly intended to change that, and after an undefeated season, can call themselves the newest champs of their division! A quick look at the end-of-season table shows that defense was TOUGH this season, and the squad managed to concede only six goals through 9 matches, all while posting six clean sheets! 🧼 Congrats to the @oldnewboysfc family, and good luck next season!

Repeat Champs! @justice_league_fc spent their first 3 D1 seasons reaching the finals but not being quite able to get their hands on the division's top prize. Now in their 6th season, they are Thursday Coed's FIRST EVER back-to-back champs, and snag their 3rd trophy overall with SOPFC! That's 6 finals in 7 seasons for one of Thursday's best, and they are just outside the top 10 in SOPFC history with that mark. Have to shoutout top-seeded @hungry.hungry.hippogriffs alos, who put up a solid effort in their second finals appearance in as many seasons. Thanks for another great season, and good luck going for the threepeat!
D2's final was a fun one that featured both of the lower seeds, and saw a combined 9 goals from EY and @threatlevelmidnightfc! A regular season matchup between the two ended in a close 2-1 win for EY, but Threat Level Midnight avenged that loss in the championship rematch with a 5-4 win. That's the team's first trophy in their 6 season history with the club, and they'll be playing D1 footie for the first time next season! Congrats on the hardware, y'all!

Sometimes, you just gotta try something new. In their 2nd season since a rebrand, @sceptrebrewingartsfc (formerly 5 Hunnid FC) found themselves in their second final in a row, a rematch against three-time reigning champs @castleberryhillac. Sunday's got new champs now though, and with a 4-2 win Sceptre capture the first trophy in the history of the team, including the pre-rebrand era 😉. Rumor is @_latinheat did his best Emi Martinez impression both while playing and post-game 🏆

Bobbay's Jorts played their first game with SOPFC on January 19th, 2019. Last Saturday, nearly 4 years to the date, the Jorts captured their TENTH Saturday trophy and are tied for second most titles in league history! In a normally tight Saturday top flight, the champs were the only team to grab more than four wins, and led the league with 31 goals scored across 9 matches. Now the only thing left to do is to catch @netsixandchill_atl! Congrats on another one, and even though you probably don[t need it, best of luck on going for 11!

Saturday saw one long-time team capture their 10th trophy, and another capture their first! Hangover 96 started with us way back in 2018, and in their 5th year and 15th season with SOPFC, they're bringing home the team's first hardware. A 1-0 win in both the semis and the finals means promotion, and the rest of D1 will be introduced to a new team next season. We wouldn't count these top division-debutants out for staying up either, they're league vets after all! Congrats y'all, and thanks for the support over the years!

“Old Man United” are the Friday Open Division Champions of the Fall ‘22 Season, after defeating “Best Ham Sandwiches” 1-0!
“Old Man United” entered the championship as the #1 seed and as the heavy favorite to take home the championship. D1 gets its 4th title winner in the last 4 seasons, which really shows just how even and competitive the top flight is. This season was a bit of an outlier though, as @loscabrazos absolutely ran through the competition with a 9-0-0 record, including a 7-0 finals win over 4-time champs @latricolorfc. That's a first trophy for Los Cabrazos, and almost certainly not their last. Congrats to Captain @alexandertorres123 for leading this group to the top, and see you next season!

A loss in each of their last 3 games meant a 4th seed for Tricky Trees, but they managed to spruce things up just in time for playoffs. Stumping both opponents in the postseason with wins over top seeds @sockers_sc and Kick in the Grass gets Tricky Trees their 7th trophy in team history and their first since 2019! This group just finished their 30th season with SOPFC, and we are so thankful to have them in the club! Good luck in D1 next season, we're rootin' for ya 🎄🌴
A new team with a lot of familiar faces, Lean FC are the latest champions of D3 and are headed to D2 next season! Bras are back🔝! Going undefeated is rare, and doing so with 9 wins is even rarer. The Bras of course, have done both before. But this season they achieved something no other team in SOPFC history has: a regular season clean sheet 🤯 A strong Loudy Foudy side managed to score 3 times in the final, but absolutely no one was going to beat @bcsbfc on their revenge tour. 4 🏆🏆🏆🏆 in 5 seasons is pretty dang good, but getting a 5th next season will mean beating some new teams 👀👀

A shootout win in the semis and a 1-goal victory in the final give HJ's Scumbags a back-to-back championship, and their 4th trophy! It's the third season in a row they've faced off against Atlanta Beasts in the finals, and this trophy win breaks the tie to give Scumbags the better record at 2-1. This team is really putting itself in the conversation of GOATs at SOPFC. In 7 seasons, they're a ridiculous 51-5-6 and 6-time finalists! 2 seasons. 2 trophies. This time on a cold rainy night at Maynard Jackson HS. ManChestHair United is not messing around, and in 2 seasons will earn promotion from D3 to D1. An 0-2-1 start to the season meant they'd only barely qualify for playoffs as the 4 seed, but that makes this latest trophy win particularly impressive. Going 3 for 3 would make them only the 18th team to do so in club history, and D1 will be a VERY tough one to pull it off in. Best of luck next season!

D3's title match featured both low seeds, but ultimately it was a good night for East Atlanta Villains FC 😈. Goals were scored EARLy on, Midway through, and even at the end of the 6-1 victory for the definitively-not-Bad-Guys. Have to give a special shoutout to this veteran squad, not only because it's their 3rd trophy in team history, but because they've also been part of the club for 17 seasons. We've been seeing more and more new teams find success in their leagues, and Bangerz Only is the latest example! The team opted for a change of scenery, moving from Sunday Open afternoons to Monday Coed nights where they found immediate success. An impressive 7-1-1 record included a comfortable 4-1 win in their final match over Kicking and Screaming, and earned their first trophy in team history. Congrats on the hardware y'all!
We've said "again" 17 times with this group, and if it seems like our struggle to come up with something to say about them is persisting, it's because it is! @netsixandchill_atl nearly lived up to their name in this season's final, scoring 5 and keeping a clean sheet against fellow long-time opponent Edgewood FC. In fact, let's use this moment to remind everyone to clean your sheets at least once a week, especially if you have a Chill session planned 🎬 Also, where do all those trophies go @the.anhster?

It's coming Gnome! After failing to post a record better than .500 in any of their 3 previous seasons, Stinky Gnomes came out smelling like roses in D2's latest campaign. Reeking havoc on the rest of D2 with an 8-0-1 overall record, the Gnomes were the only undefeated team in the division and led the entire Open league with only 9 goals conceded. They'll spend next season in D1, and it makes plenty of scents to us to think they'll find success there, too 👃

3 finals in 5 seasons is a more than impressive resume for most teams, but 0 trophies meant Terminus FC had little to show for it. Entering their 6th season, maybe they got some extra training in. Or maybe some added engine-uity. Or they simply just kept chugging along 🚂. But after a 5-1-1 record in the regular season, this group was on track to reach the final again, and were able to claim their very first SOPFC trophy. Rolling into the upcoming season full steam ahead, the next stop for this team is D1 🚉

We've been lucky to add a lot of new teams to the fold in our Tuesday Open league, and SOPFC debutantes Southern Truman Dawgs join elite company as division winners in their first season! An impressive and undefeated 4-0-3 record in the regular season meant they'd enter the playoffs as the three seed, where they'd go on to beat veterans Leonidas FC and last season's finalists Big Boi FC to claim D3's top spot! We don't really know what a Truman Dawg is, but after that furst place finish, we're pawsitive they'll be hounding teams in D2 next season 🐶

It's no surprise 3 out of the last 4 finals in D1 Coed have featured Justice League FC, as they've been one of Thursday’s strongest teams for several seasons. But even after being a lock for the playoffs the last 3 of 4 seasons, that 9th game has proven to be their kryptonite. They may be new to our Thursday Coed league, but the podium is hardly an unfamiliar spot for Net Six and Chill teams. After failing to qualify last season, they posted a strong 4-2-1 record this time around, entering the playoffs as the 2 seed. A 5-2 win in the semis carried them to the finals against a strong side in Manny's FC, who were one of only two teams to beat Net Six in the regular season. It'd be tough for any team to put together a season like Kicking and Screaming, but to do so in their debut SOPFC season is truly a feat! Their 6-1-0 record—5 of those matches being clean sheets 🧼—earned them the top seed in the D3 playoffs. 7 goals for and 1 goal against through those two matches won them their very first SOPFC trophy, and we doubt very seriously it'll be the last. We're sure both Coach Weston and Mike Ditka are very proud!

Reynoldstown FC ☀️ has always been a tough match in the Over-30 league, and for a long time we were used to seeing them reach the finals regularly. The last year has seen many teams in that league improve, and Reynoldstown just hasn't had the same success - their last title win was in February, and they've fallen twice in the finals since then. That unlucky run came to a screeching halt this season, and an emphatic 8-0-1 record through the finals means RFC is back in familiar territory! “Injured Reserves” are the Friday Soccer Coed Champions of the Fall ‘22 season, after defeating “911” 2-1!
“Injured Reserves” came into the playoffs as one of the favorites to take home the title. Their incredible offense is why they finished as one of the top teams in their division, but their impressive defense and amazing teamwork is the reason why they made it to the finals. The championship started off very evenly matched, with neither team being able to pull away from the other. But everything changed when “Injured Reserves” scored an unbelievable goal midway through the first half to take the lead. “911” kept applying pressure to “Injured Reserves” defense, but “Injured Reserves” stayed strong and did not allow them to score in the first half. The second half started off as a defensive battle, but “911” turned up the heat and scored an amazing goal of their own and tied it up at 1-1. It looked like the championship was up for grabs until “Injured Reserves” finally broke through “911’s” tremendous defense and scored the game winning goal towards the end of the game. “911” kept the game competitive all the way till the end, but “Injured Reserves” proved to everyone that they were the team to beat!

Wednesday Open is one of our oldest leagues, and the top flight has always been a bit of a grind. @justmatipfc were last season's D3 champs, and when a spot opened up in D1 this season they were eager to fill it. A 3-1-3 record was good enough to make the playoffs as the 3 seed, and wins against fellow D1 debutants @loscabrazos as well as Wednesdays vets Pink Pony Lunch Shift earned this squad their second trophy in as many seasons 🏆🏆! Considering their current form, Klopp himself may be looking into a transfer here soon 🔴 ⚪️

Wednesday Open's biggest upset may have come in Division 2 this season. Recently relegated from D1, @latricolorfc looked dominant and went undefeated through the regular season. The Goaliath fell early in the first round though, and a definitive 4-0 win carried 4 seed Gaucho FC into the championship match. That 🔒⬇️ defense got them ANOTHER clean sheet in the finals, and the 2-0 win meant Gaucho FC earned their first league trophy ever! Shoutout to captain @offbroadway666, not too shabby for your first season as gaffer!
Last season was a bit rough for both TBD FC and Whiskey Shooters, as both missed the playoffs and a chance at the title. The finishes must have been neat and tidy for both squads this season though, as each made it to the championship match and were the 1 and 3 seeds respectively. A winner was certainly determined in this one though, and TBD handed out an old-fashioned 🥃 beat down, winning 6-0 and earning a spot in D2 next season! Congrats to both teams on a strong season, and best of luck in the next one!

This is a big one folks - in our first 3 WNB seasons, @bcsbfc proved themselves to be the most dominant SOPFC team in recent history, claiming 3 championships and winning a ridiculous 26 games along the way. This season AFC Marta joined the league, and the newcomers were set on derailing any chances for 4 in a row. After a 0-7 regular season loss to the reigning champs, the team got back on track and handed the Bras their first TWO losses in team history, including a 3-1 win in the finals! Gotta give a special shoutout to SOPFC vet and first-time captain @louisecheng for recruiting such a strong side 🚂 💪 We can't express enough how much we've enjoyed watching this league grow, and wish all teams good luck next season!

12 seasons. 4 years. 3 finals. 0 trophies. But in season lucky number 13, @apres_diem finally got that elusive trophy by way of a win over a very strong @netsixandchill_atl side! And to do so as the playoff's lowest seed makes it that much more of an accomplishment. We say it all the time, but Monday Open's top flight has been one of the strongest divisions across all of our leagues for a long time now, making this one of the harder trophies to capture. Thanks for another great season, and for bringing some of that "cool night time spot" energy to SOPFC!

Monday Open's D2 championship was a VERY close one this season, and we had a clash between long-time SOPFC vets Dad Bods and newcomers Genna FC. League debutants may have won the regular season matchup, but in the rematch for the trophy, it was the Father Figures who claimed their first ever league title with a 2-1 win! We have to give a special shoutout to those few players still left from that original 2019 Run Like The Winded roster, and we can't thank you enough for your continued support. Best of luck in D1 next season!

We had a rematch of last season's D1 final this time around, with Atlanta Beasts and HJ's Scumbags facing off again in another close match. This one went the Scumbags' way, and the win means they have earned their 3rd trophy with SOPFC in just seven seasons, along with a “Most Championships” debut on our Wall of Fame 🧱 ⭐️ Congrats on another great season y'all, and thanks for all of your support!

After losing their week 1 game 3-0, Vodka United decided they'd give the rest of the regular season their best shot. In what can only be described as an Absolut and complete effort in the next 6 matches, the team went undefeated and entered the playoffs as a 2 seed. Spirits were clearly high for the postseason games, and this group went on to score SEVEN while conceding only once in their semifinal and title matches! Nearly a year ago to the day they won their last trophy, so maybe this is proof that trams that drink together win together 🍸

Picking a team in their first season to win it all would be considered hair-esy in most cases, but Manchesthair UTD were clearly a cut above the rest ✂️ A 3-0 clean sheet in the semis followed by a 5-3 win in the finals means UTD is a lock for D2 next season, and we have a feeling they'll make more than a few waves over there, too. Sheer luck? More like shear talent 😉

The top division in our Thursday Coed league has had only 2 different winners in the past 4 seasons, but after Thursday's victory over Iron Throw-In, Hungry Hungry Hippogriffs are our newest D1 champs! These were the two top seeds, and to no one's surprise they played a nail-biter of a championship game with a final score of 4-3. Last season, Abby Get Back on Defense made it to the final in their debut season, losing a tough match to league veterans @netsixandchill_atl. Some good fortune saw them reach the finals after a shootout victory in the semis, but there was no need for extra time in the title match: Tuesday's Coed champs scored 2 and surrendered 0 against a strong Zev’s Goldens side. Or the second. Or even the third. Seeing Bobbay's Jorts on top of Saturday's D1 is a familiar sight these days, but this season's win is a bit more special than the others. It was close, but a 1-0 victory over D1 debutants Los Frijoles means this team now has a THREEPEAT, and is one step closer to breaking their all-time record FOUR titles in a row, tied for the most consecutive trophies in our league's history 🥇 It also means 9 championship wins overall, which is good for third all-time 🥉They'll be back for their 12th Saturday season and are sure to get the rest of the division's best effort, but we're comfortable calling them favorites to go for a record-breaking 5 titles in a row at this rate. Congrats on the threepeat, y'all! 🏆🏆🏆

Saturday's D2 final was a true grinder, and while both teams were able to get some good looks on net, the final score at full time was nil-nil and the game went to a shootout. Pichichi's keeper kept the clean sheet going though, and stopped every one of the 3 shots faced 🧱 That effort meant converting 2 out of the first 3 shots was enough for the win, and Pichichis22 FC earn their first Saturday League trophy, and second SOPFC trophy overall! We also have to shout out their opponent, @hotlantasoccer, who make their mark on our Wall of Fame with 4 finals appearances all-time. Congrats to both teams, and best of luck next season!

Wednesday's premier championship game saw something of a rare matchup, featuring both finalists from D2 last season 👀 In what is becoming one of Wednesday Open's fiercest rivalries, @roundtripfc and @ultratlantafc played against each for the 5th time in the last two seasons. Like last season's final, it's the brew crew taking a 1-0 win in a close game, and adding another trophy to their bar shelf! This one is a little more special, since it gives Round Trip their 3rd in a row, their first in D1, and an SOPFC Wall of Fame trifecta (appearing for Most Championships, Most Finals Appearances, AND Back-to-Back Championships)! Despite coming off a championship and promotion from D3, it had been about a year since we last saw Chafing the Dream in our league. They showed no signs of rust though, and went undefeated in a frictionless debut D2 season! Throwing it back all the way to U8 with the team name, Power Rangers came into the Wednesday Open league as a new team with a mission to win it all! In an effort that would make Zordon proud, the Rangers led their division with 25 goals scored and finished the season with an emphatic 5-0 win in the final. Earning the championship trophy means they've Mighty Morphed into a D2 squad, but will @atlrangers be able to defeat their nemeses ahead? Tune in next season to find out!

3 colors 🟡🔵🔴, and now 2 trophies 🏆🏆! @latricolorfc gets their second D1 championship in a row after beating D1 newcomer StrawHats 7-1. With an 8-0-1 record through 9 games, this group stayed at the top of the table all season, and achieved their first undefeated season in team history! We don't know what's in those virgin mojitos that @mangoboysatl provides for the players, but can we get some please? 🥭

Wednesday Open's Division 2 final saw top two teams @ultratlantafc and @roundtripfc face each other for the third time this season, and it was a nail-biter of a match. After finishing the first half tied at nil-nil, the Brewery Boys managed to squeeze in the game's lone goal, and can add a second trophy to the shelf over at @roundtripbeer. Prost y'all 🍻 and good luck in the top flight next season!

The Women's & Non-Binary league may only be 2 seasons old, but we already have something of a dynasty growing. While new team Loudy Foudy FC put up one heck of a fight in the title match, @bcsbfc completed ANOTHER 9-win perfect season, and are now 2-time champs! We are excited to see this league's continued growth with 8 teams next season, and expect some challengers for these back-to-back champs to emerge 👀 BRAvo y'all, and thanks for the support! ✊

OH SNAP! While normally they're a great pair, we had a battle of Rice and Beans in this Saturday Coed D3 final. Both teams went against the grain by reaching the finals in their first season, but it was Los Frijoles who beat division rivals Jollof Rice FC by a score of 3-1 to complete their title-winning campaign! A-mung other accomplishments over the season, the Legumes conceded only 4 goals and led the league by netting 45 of their own 😲 With numbers like that, promotion was just meant to bean.

We write championship captions for this group so often, we think it's time to just give you all some of the numbers behind what is undoubtedly one of the most talented teams in our club:
This is the 11th season for Bobbay's Jorts 👖, having played their first game all the way back in January of 2019. In that time, they've scored 221 goals, posted a 56-14-19 overall record, and reached the finals 9 times! Out of those 9 finals, they've been able to hoist the D1 trophy 8 times, which is good for 3rd all-time in SOPFC history and leads Saturday teams by a HUGE margin 📶 And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that in those 89 matches, they've received ZERO red cards, meaning this group cares about sportsmanship as much as they do winning 👏 Thanks for the continued support over the years y'all, and congratulations on another fantastic season!
If you've been out for any of our recent Saturday Coed matches, you know winter may not be coming anytime soon 🥵 But that didn't stop Game of Throw-Ins from conquering the second division and winning another league trophy! This is a group that will be back in D1 for the first time in almost a year, and their 7-0-2 record this season should serve as a Stark reminder to D1 teams that another strong opponent will be added to the mix next season. Well done with the win, and best of luck with your D1 battles next season!

It was a rematch of the D3 finals from a couple of seasons ago, but Atlanta Rocket beat Terminus again, this time for the D2 title! This team just seems to gravitate towards winning trophies, and judging by that championship photo, we'd say they're over the moon about it. Houston, please set a course for Division 1 🚀
D1 playoffs are usually a lock for tough games, and after entering the most recent postseason as a 3 seed, Fighters were going to need to....put up a fight if they wanted to win Tuesday's toughest division 🥊 Despite a 2-6 regular season loss to final's opponent and heavyweight Nike World VII, Fighters dealt the knockout blow with a 3-2 win, and claim their 3rd trophy in team history. That number ties them with several teams for 3rd all time among SOPFC teams, and they'll look to keep moving up the charts next season!

Don't Look Up, but it was clearly a good week for the Net Six and Chill conglomerate! And with the Tuesday Coed team also winning a 'ship, we're quickly running out of streaming service puns over here. We probably could give 13 Reasons Why this group is so successful within our leagues, but the truth is it all starts with veteran captain @the.anhster. There's just no pause button ⏸ when it comes to winning with this group. Congrats y'all!

THREEPEAT 🏆🏆🏆 Might be time for a name change y'all, the Has-Beens winning 3 Over-40 seasons in a row has them looking more like the Right-Nows! This season's title came against Decatur City, who had tied and beaten them in their previous two matches. and was the only side to deal Has-Beens any non-wins over the regular season. Third time's the charm though, and Has-Been's brought their best to the final with a decisive 5-1 victory. 4 in a row would be nearly unchartered territory, anyone up for stopping the streak?
After completing the first 5 games of the season with a 1-3-1 record, the playoffs seemed like a bit of a long shot for Net Six and Chill Select. The wins were just queued up for the end of the season, and a strong finish to win the last 2 regular season games got the Streamers into the playoffs as a 4 seed. Those wins kept coming in the playoffs, with 1-goal victories against both the 1 and 2 seeds. Awesome job adding yet another trophy to the Net Six cabinet, and we'll be sure to tune in to the next season 🎬
REPEAT SZN 🏆🏆! With the new lavender kits this season, Throbb County put together yet another impressive run to the final, and are D1 champs for the second season in a row! Back-to-back titles puts Throbb County in pretty rare company, with only 28 teams in all of SOPFC history since 2014 being able to claim they've achieved that feat. A 3-peat would put them in an even more elite group - anyone up for breaking the streak next season? 👀

They say you never forget your first, so we hope members of Vodka United don't have too much brain fog after celebrating their first SOPFC trophy ever! Beating the D3 playoff's top seed in previously undefeated Hotlanta United was no small task, but it's hard to lose when you don't concede any goals, and Vodka United did just enough to win the title match 1-0. Those new kits are Absolut fire y'all! Congrats, and good luck in D2 next season!

Monday Coed's top division hosts some of the most talented teams across SOPFC, and HJ's Scumbags is certainly one of those teams. In what was their 4th season ever, they posted a nearly perfect 8-0-1 record, which brings their total record to a mind blowing 30-3-2 🤯. New Kicks on the Block put up a strong effort, scoring more goals than any other Scumbag opponent has in those 4 seasons, but the Scumbags came out on top 6-4 and are able to take home their 2nd D1 title! They're a fantastic team, and in spite of the name, a pretty nice group of folks too. Congrats Scumbags, and good luck in season #5!

Calling it a hero's journey might not be the most apt description, but East Atlanta Villains certainly answered the Call to Adventure by claiming the D2 title with a 2-1 victory! Their championship final opponent Estoria put up a good fight, but the Villains' win means they're on the Road Back to Division 1 after being relegated a few seasons ago. It's their second trophy in the team's history, and their first since 2019. This is a group you can catch on most Fridays at pickup, so if you see them, make sure to congratulate them on their Transformation into a top flight team!

Hippogriff (hip·po·griff; ˈhipəˌɡrif/) - a mythical creature with the body of a 🐎 and the wings and head of an 🦅, born of the union of a male griffin and a filly. We weren't sure how good this group of eagle-horse frankensteins were going to do in their first ever SOPFC season, but now know they weren't lying about being hungry. It's looking like our Thursday Coed league might just have its first dynasty! Manny's is always a strong side and nearly a lock for the playoffs, but lost their semi-final match last season to the eventual champs in a PK shootout. No shootout was necessary in our latest D1 final though, and Manny's was able to capture their third trophy in 5 seasons by pitching a clean sheet against Justice League and winning their final match by a score of 2-0. This squad is supported by local bar @mannysgrantpark, and you can find all 3 of their trophies on the bar shelves there! 🍻

It was a rematch of last season's final, but this time with a VERY different result. Highlands OMSC got the better of neighborhood rivals Reynoldstown FC, scoring 5 goals and only conceding 1. That gives them their 3rd Over-30 trophy overall and their first since our Summer 2019 season! This season marks Highland's 25th season with SOPFC, and we are so thankful for their continued support over the years. Not too shabby for an Old Man Soccer Club! 😉

For most groups, the season after promotion is often a tough one, and teams have to adjust to stiffer competition. Pitch Slap 2.0 clearly isn't like most teams though, and followed a D3 championship in their most recent season with an impressive 1st place effort and D2 title this season. A special congrats to team goalie, captain, and SOPFC field manager, Aidan! Congrats on earning a D1 spot, and best of luck next season!
The D3 final saw two long-time teams go against each other in a game so close, it needed PKs to decide a winner. League of Nations put up a great effort, coming back from behind on two separate occasions, but Round Trip SC was better from the spot on the night, and now have a new display piece for the brewery @roundtripbeer 🍻 Congrats to both teams on great seasons and securing promotion!

Monday Open D1 has always been home to some of the most talented teams in the city, and winning the trophy for this one is no small feat. We're used to seeing 11-time finalist and 4-time champs Napoli making it to that 9th game, but this season it was their opponent, our OTP friends Throbb County FC, that are trophy winners. It's their first D1 trophy, their second overall in four seasons, and likely not their last. This season saw a return to championship form though, and in a battle of neighborhood teams, Reynoldstown defeated Highlands OMSC 2-0. That makes six SOPFC trophies overall for this group since 2017 😮, tying them for fourth all-time on our Champions Wall!
Our Thursday Over-30 league is growing to 10 teams next season - will any of the new challengers break the streak? 👀
Third time's the charm! After three seasons and two final appearances, Soccer Stars shined bright in our Tuesday Open D2 final and can call themselves champs! It was far from an easy match against tough opponent Multiple Scoregasms, and one that was so close the two sides could only be separated by a shootout. The Stars weren't interested in any constellation prize this time around though, and take home their first trophy in SOPFC. We're over the moon to have this group in the league, and have a feeling this latest win won't be their last 🌚
In their first season after promotion from D2, Kach Zetchum FC saw struggles early on, including a brutal 7-2 loss to eventual final opponents Foreign Bodies. This group never gave up though, and were able to earn the 4 seed behind the efforts of leading goal scorer @deezy_f_maybe and 8 others who found the back of the net over the course of the season 😮 Big thanks to @mcpicklejar for the official stat-keeping, and best of luck on going for three! Those new champ shirts look good on ya ✊

If you’ve played in our Tuesday Coed league, you know beating 5-time champs and 8-time finalists Pixelated PKs is no small task. One might say it would even take a miracle. Clearly, new team God Is Here didn't get the memo, as they beat the reigning champs in both Week 1 and the Championship match! Congrats on the 3-0 win and clean sheet, and prayers up for any and all opponents you face next season 🙏🏽

We have a new streak in the Over-40 league, and what a match we saw in the finals! Both teams are former champs, but it was Has-Beens getting a win over Old New Boys in a 15-ROUND PK SHOOTOUT. Was clearly a night where keepers were asked to stand on their heads, because even after all that shooting from the spot, the score was only 3-2 on penalties. Congrats to Has-Beens on their second overall championship and the start of a streak, and best of luck to both teams in their quest for Over-40 glory next season!

Sometimes when new teams join the league, it takes a season or two to figure the league out. In Bonesaw's case, it only took a few games. After starting the season 0-4, they won their final three regular season matches and entered the playoffs as the 3 seed. That same winning streak was stretched to five after beating the top two seeds and becoming our latest D3 champs! Something tells us this isn't a case of beginner's luck, and we wouldn't be surprised to see them cut through the D2 competition next season 🪚

Our D1 final featured two veteran SOPFC teams in Pink Pony Lunch Shift and @netsixandchill_atl, and this final was a CLOSE one. In the end, Pink Pony scored the lone goal of the match and earned their SIXTH title, tying them with Net Six and Chill for fourth most across all SOPFC leagues. When you're up against these guys, you don't want to be horsing around 🐴 By the way, where can we get one of those kits?!

There was only one team in D2 to go undefeated this season, so it's fitting that squad was the one to lift the trophy at the end! The path wasn't an easy one, though, and Strawhats faced tough opponents in one-goal games in both the semifinal and final matches. This was the first season under a new name for this team, so thinking they'll stick with this one 😎 Congratulations on the win, and best of luck in D1!

Our latest Sunday Open postseason featured a TON of g⚽️als, and 3 seed Flamengo especially put on a shooting clinic. After scoring 6 goals and beating 5 Hunnid FC in their semi final Match, Flamengo upset the top seeded and three-time Sunday D1 champs Straight Shooters by a final score of 4-2! Congratulations to captain @pierreshaun and the rest of this veteran crew, who can finally call themselves champs after 6 Sunday seasons. We'll see y'all next season when you go for the repeat!
