The Early Fall Midcore champs, Sets on Sets on Sets made sure to make it two in a row as they roared into the semifinals on Thursday night at St. Charles. Facing #2 seed Bump Up the Jam, the Sets gave a brilliant performance on all fronts. With consecutive service points from Rebecca and Rene playing out of his head at net, the Sets cruised to a three to zip victory over the Jam. After taking a break during which How I Set Your Mother beat Cathy & the Jugheads, SoSoS came roaring back in the finals with more energy than ever, easily taking the first two sets and the championship. Captain Skyler and his teammates are obviously making it their goal to grab every championship they can, or so they declared after their victory on Thursday night. Congrats to all the Thursday night Midcore teams at St. Charles for a fabulous season and playoffs!

For the second season in a row, the stellar Volley Lama has come out victorious. This team played tough all night, and fought back from being behind in several games. That might be one of the greatest aspects of this team! They stick together, and never give up, and are never to be counted out regardless of the point difference. This season's championship match was no different. They played a tough team of Twerking Pirates, but in the end the spoils went to the Lamas. Congrats on another killer season!!

This season's champions are All About That Ace! They had two great games in the finals of playoffs, and did battle with two very worthy opponents. Communication, chemistry, and skill are at the heart of this team who puts up a fight in every match. Not only that, but two of their players came out strong and played both games despite being injured. Based on performance, this fact couldn't have been less apparent! They hit hard, went after every ball, and came through with some epic digs off of hits from a very hard hitting moovel team. This team killed it tonight! Congrats All About That Ace!

It was an amazing championship night with four great teams! 2 Legit 2 Hit pushed through to win it all! They had good teamwork, kept up the intensity, communicated well, and encouraged each other :) With only four players most of the season they had to work harder every week. Alaina had patience with digs, consistent strong serves, and power spikes! Megan was the super setter with a kneel set and even a one handed punch set! Also she had at least two incredible noteworthy blocks! Ryan hustled and wouldn't let a ball drop! He is a spectacular hitter who can hit any ball no matter how low or off to the side sometimes even using this very effective backhand type hit! Sean was quick with dive saves and nice spikes! He also picked up balls on serve receive like nobody's business and was faithful with his captains duties! Fantastic season team 2 Legit 2 Hit!!

"Good Volleybrations" has won the Tuesday Volleyball championship, knocking out a tough "FC Amigos" squad in the final. The score may show 2-0, but in reality each set was extremely close, with "Good Volleybrations" pulling through in the clutch each time.
Perseverance also paid off after this same team suffered a tough loss in last season's championship game. It also marks the second straight season "Good Volleybrations" has knocked "FC Amigos" from the playoffs.
It was a fantastic season for "Good Volleybrations", ending their regular season as the second best team. Only "FC Amigos" was better, but head to head our champs beat them twice; once in the regular season and most importantly in the championship. They'd also finish with a league best +11 point differential, thanks in part to some dominant play this season.
A great end to a successful season "Good Volleybrations", and we look forward to their title defense in the upcoming season!
Straight Shots and Scared Hitless both rallied off W's Monday night to advance to the championship match. Straight Shots played aggressive to sweep the first set. Scared Hitless wasn't going down easy and gave Straight Shots a run for their money stealing the second set. Thanks to a well-balanced team with fresh legs and subs off the bench, Straight Shots closed in and took the title. They persevered and held electric energy the entire game. No doubt, they earned the trophy!

It’s been a long playoff road for the 21 Bump Street players. They’ve taken each of their games to 3 rounds the entire two weeks of play. We’re guess they just love the game so much that they wanted to get every single minute out of it. Tonight was no exception as the 21 Bump Street went at it twice tonight against some tough opponents. Several games ending in just a two point spread they came out victorious! Such competitive and fun games to watch this team has fun on and off the court. Congratulations 21 Bump Street on your championship win!

No. 1 ranked "The Triple Hits" beat No. 3 ranked "That's What She Set" in a back-and-forth battle to become the champions of Augusta Sports Leagues first Coed Quick 6s league. All teams really enjoyed the short format to carry teams between Fall and Winter league, especially for Tuesday Sand Volleyball teams that are normally left out until March.

"Net Results" is our Monday Volleyball champion, capping off their perfect 10-0 season with a sweep in the finals. Their skill was on full display all night, dropping just one set throughout the playoffs. That included wins of 21-10 and 21-7 in the championship game over "Amigos".
"Amigos" in their own right had a great season, picking up the first round playoff win over favored "Wonder Island" to make it to the finals. Earlier in the season they lost 3-0 to the very same team. However, come championship time, they were totally over-matched.
To say "Net Results" was dominant this season would be an understatement, even by their standards. The two-time Monday night champion was the best team all season by a long-shot, racking up a +24 point differential. Only once ALL SEASON did they even lose a game, and that was in the first round of the playoffs to "Red Hot Sets". If not for that game, "Net Results" would have had a spotless season. Either way, it was still an incredible season for the back to back champions.
Dominating serves brought the championship to Achieving Ambitionz.
All team members brought their best game.
Shaggin Balls had been in the finals four times before Tuesday night at St. Charles so they know a thing or two about how to achieve the championship. Meeting a very strong opponent in E! True Volleywood Story, who just came off a well fought win against CC7D in the semifinals, Shaggin Balls were in top form with great serving by Lindsey and Chris, ferocious kills by Brad, impeccable setting by Lisa and Jamie all while Tracy kept E! on their toes by making unbelievable saves. The Shaggers have the ability to encourage and coach each other so that each one brings their specialty of the sport every time they play. Donning the USL headbands and fist pumping their victory, Shaggin Balls grabbed their fifth championship title with athleticism, teamwork and class. Congrats to Shaggin Balls and E! The "Falcons" are our Sunday Volleyball champs for a second straight season, cutting through the playoffs with ease. Our champions entered the night as the #4 seed after a rough end to their regular season, dropping their final two games after starting 6-0. The two late losses meant an extra playoff game, but in the end that didn't matter too much.
In fact it may have served to help the "Falcons" get back on track. In their first game of the night they took on "The Regulators", sweeping them 2-0. They would also sweep the top seed "Spikological Warfare" in straight sets to book their ticket to the finals.
In the championship is was much of the same against championship hopeful "Hot Sauce". The #3 seed battled well against "I'd Hit That", winning their match 2-0. However, Despite their best efforts, the defending champion brought their 'A' game and couldn't be handled. In a fitting end for "Falcons", it was a third 2-0 sweep of "Hot Sauce" en route to back to back titles.
Congratulations to "Falcons" on another great season!
Ballz Deep and Fly Me to Maroon faced off in the championship match for Midcore 2 on Thursday night. Fly Me to Maroon entered the match after a nail-biting semi-final game against That’s What She Set. Fly Me to Maroon started strong against Ballz Deep, using their momentum from the previous match. But soon, Ballz Deep warmed up and started swinging hard and finishing scrappy plays. Ballz Deep covered the court with just four players and frustrated their opponent’s offense by not letting any balls hit the floor. Ballz Deep’s consistent play led them to win the decisive match. It was hard to tell who would come out on top during the championship match for Softcore Volleyball on Thursday night. Both teams looked strong and consistent through out the first set. Rallies were long and neither team seemed willing to give up. Block You Like a Hurricane took the first game 26-24. At the beginning of the second set, the pressure waves in the gym started to resonant with a particular frequency. Was that “Rock You Like a Hurricane” I heard coming from the speakers, an omen of good things to come? Whether it was the music or just positive vibes among the players, Block You Like a Hurricane jumped out to an early lead in the second set and never looked back. With a diverse offense and a scrappy defense, Notorious D.I.G. is indeed “notorious” among midcore volleyball teams, and they lived up to their reputation on Thursday night. Notorious D.I.G. faced off against Safe Sets in the championship match. In the first set, the score stayed close until D.I.G. had a string of kills, as their setter distributed the ball outside, middle, and back, leaving her hitters with one-on-one match ups. D.I.G. seized the first set, and then took an early lead in the second with a run of aces from Brigitte F. From there, D.I.G. didn’t let up and pushed to finish the match and the season undefeated. Nice work, Notorious D.I.G.!

What a game between Unprotected Sets and Air High Fives! It was an even match that was well fought and had suspenseful twists and turns that left the bystanders restless. Not only was the game intense, but also full of questionable moves. With balls that hung on the top edge of the net for what seemed like forever and backhanded tips (tip/spike?), nobody could guess how the game would end.
Although the teams played evenly, Unprotected Sets pulled all the stops and showed everyone that they were the champs! Paige had amazing intuition at the net and had some unbelievable blocks that rejected sneaky tips, while Matthew dished out killer serves. Nearing the end, two points away from winning the game, the opponents got four kills in a row to try to catch up! Unprotected Sets settled and centered themselves, finishing the competitors off with two swift points. It was a great match between two tough teams, but there can only be one in the end...
Sleeping Beauties had a great season and were able to finish it off with a championship. Things could have gone differently however, in their semifinals game they used a long scoring streak to come thundering back from a hefty deficit in the third set and rode it to victory. In the finals they rode that momentum and were able to hold off the opposition through strong serves and good team play all the way through.

Tight first game - both teams had solid passing and great coverage. After a long battle, Bam Bam secured the first set. The competition heated up in the second set as Bam Bam took an early lead with scrappy played that were finished with solid swings from the outside. What an exciting match! Using all of their best assets, both teams were engaged and excited about their victories. The first set set was fairly neck-and-neck with fantastic hits and saves by both teams, but Attack Pack’s serves were too strong and they utilized their right side hitter effectively. The second set started strong for Attack Pack, with hard smackdowns and aces. Their opponent, The M’s, started to gain strength in the middle of the set. The M’s never gave up and remained positive, but Attack Pack secured their win with their unbeatable team cooperation. Overall it was an excellent job done by both teams. Congratulations on the big win, Attack Pack!

"Smokin' Aces" is our Thursday Volleyball champion, winning back to back games in last night's playoffs.
In the first round they took down "Tomato Soup" 2-1. "Smokin' Aces" was the heavy favorite, but the match was far from easy. Either way, the win made them better prepared for the championship game, where "Just the tip" awaited with an undefeated 8-0 record.
In the two regular season match-ups this season, "Just the tip" dominated things. Not only did they win both games, they also swept "Smokin' Aces" in both, winning all six sets in the process.
With both losses in the back their heads, "Smokin' Aces" had quite the challenge ahead of them. But, instead of cracking under the pressure, the rose to the occasion! True to their name, they played like aces in the final, sweeping "Just the tip" 2-0 and securing the championship. Congratulations to "Smokin' Aces" on the fantastic night of volleyball!

As the games began, this team expressed their great desire to claim the victory with an equal desire to catch the Seahawks. With this motivation behind them, the VolleyBags made quick work of the final game. They showed their team's closeness and skill through great communication and movement which led the team to play as one and get flawless bump, set, spike sequences.
Even when the ball was on the other side of the court, the VolleyBags were on their toes, ready to receive and return the ball with force! They had some amazing digs and unbelievable kills that made this match one to remember. Their opponents were tough and fought back, but the VolleyBags got the killer hits to end it all!
While the team faced their mightly challengers with half as many teammates, The Notorious D.I.G. did everything but come up short. Even though they had more court to cover, they played their hearts out (which you could see, feel, and hear) and took away the Championship title! Each player had their own unique specialty in the game and they utilized everyone's talent to bring the heat.
The Notorious D.I.G. played with great understanding of the game, showing intuition in their movement and rotation. Being in the right place at the right time let each teammate get the perfect set up for a powerful hit. With such a well-balanced and strong team, you'll want to watch out for them in the upcoming season!
A beastly and competitive team took the court Sunday night and stole the Championship title from the challenging teams! Not a single ball fell to the ground without an impressive effort to save the point. Watermelandrea had brilliant digs and forceful sets that set up the players at the net for scary kills.
Even though some of their players suffered from the lingering effects of injuries, they played as if nothing was ailing them. The team communicated and competed beautifully despite their opponents endless retaliations to their attacks. It was a tough match, with even tougher hits; never before has the color combination of pink and green looked so fierce!
Hats off to the Volley Lama, who played tough and came through victorious in the championship match, despite missing some of their key players. Scrappy Kilmore gave them a run, but these Lamas would not stand down! They had some killer plays at the net and even more spectacular saves throughout the three games. "Just the tip" is our latest Tuesday Volleyball league champion. As the top seed "Just the tip" was the favorite heading into the night, but that didn't mean it was an easy road to the top. Along the way they defeated "I'd Hit That", fresh off a first round 2-0 sweep in the 4 v 5 matchup. "Just the tip" fought off their opponent though, and in a 2 sets to 1 victory were on to the championship game.
In a heated battle for the other spot in the final were the evenly matched "FC Amigos" and "Good Volleybrations". Last season "FC Amigos" lost in the championship game and had hoped for a chance to redeem themselves. However, "Good Volleybrations" had other ideas, taking down the #2 seed and punching their own ticket to the big dance.
In the championship game it went down to the wire, with both "Just the Tip" and "Good Volleybrations" tied at 1 apiece after the first two sets. Neither team was able to truly separate themselves, thus a third set was needed to decide the champion. In the end, it was "Just the tip" that edged out the victory.
Congratulation to "Just the tip" on a perfect 10-0 record, in a season with a number of quality teams. None of those teams quite good enough to beat our champions though, and every time a team would get close "Just the tip" slammed the door shut with another victory. Overall, an incredible season!

"Net Results" has taken the latest Monday Volleyball championship in an intense 2-1 win last night against the top team from the regular season "I'd Hit That". Adding to drama was the fact that our champs had already lost to "I'd Hit That" twice this season. However, this time it was "Net Results" who had the last hurrah, finally getting revenge in the most important game of the season.
All in all it was a pretty strong, consistent season, for "Net Results". They'd finish with an 8-2 record, with their only two losses coming to "I'd Hit That". That includes a 2-0 win in the first round of the playoffs over "Bump in the Night". In total they won six of their eight games by sweeping their opponent, meaning that when they were on, they were nearly unstoppable. That proved true in the playoffs as well, with the three set win in the championship after their first round sweep.
Congratulations to "Net Results" on a fantastic season, overcoming their greatest hurdle throughout the season to be crowned champion! We wish them the best of luck next season as they attempt to defend their title!

Last night concluded our Sunday night volleyball season. Five great teams battled it out for the crown, hoping to emerge victorious.
The night started off with a play-in game between the 4th seed "Gangrene" and the 5th seed "I'd Hit That". The match went to three games, with I'd Hit That pulling off the upset to move into the semi-finals and matchup with the #1 Falcons.
Our other semi-final match pitted #2 Spikological Warfare vs the #3 "The Regulators". Another close match that went to three games, with another lower seeded coming out on top with a 2-1 win.
The Falcons finished the regular season with a near perfect 7-1 record, and were able to dispatch "I'd Hit That" fairly easily, winning in just two games. That set up a championship matchup against The Regulators... the only team to beat them all season. This time, The Falcons would not be denied, winning the best of 3 match in two games.
Congratulations to the Falcons on winning this season! They had a great season and truly showed they were the top team. Their skills are seen mostly in their setting and spiking abilities/plays. The Falcons have set a new bar for this league which will push the other teams to grow in the sport and evolve to become even better. What an exciting season with a promise for future seasons to be incredible! Great job again to the Falcons.

"Notorious D.I.G." is our Tuesday Volleyball champion, ending the season with an undefeated 10-0 record. Overall they finished with a +22 point differential, tops in the league. In Second place was their championship game opponent, "FC Amigos", who "Notorious D.I.G." swept twice; once to start the season and once to end it.
In all "Notorious D.I.G" shut out their opponent an unprecedented 7 times through their 10 games, including the playoffs! Even more impressive, they only lost 3 sets all season. To call them dominant would probably be an understatement.
In the playoffs that dominance continued, sweeping both "I'd Hit That" and "FC Amigos", two formidable foes. Still, their combination of offense and defense was unstoppable. In the end, that led to their championship. Congratulations to "Notorious D.I.G." and a truly one-of-a-kind season!

"Good Volleybrations" is our newest Monday volleyball champion, taking down "I'd Hit That" in straight sets to be crowned the latest top dog. Their path to the top wasn't as easy as it looked though, starting the night off as the #3 seed in the playoffs.
In their first game of the nights "Good Volleybrations" faced off against #2 "Fists of Fury". That duel against last year's runner up went the full three sets, with both teams trading blows until "Good Volleybrations" came out on top as the victor.
After knocking off last year's second place team, "Good Volleybrations" had an even tougher task. In the championship they'd take on "I'd Hit That", last season's champion who was looking to make it a repeat. However, a repeat wasn't in the books. Instead "Good Volleybrations" carried their momentum from the last game to this one. They made every point count, and in the end came out with a 2 sets to none championship win.
Congratulations to "Good Volleybrations" on the Monday night title, and we wish them the best of luck on Tuesdays!

The Sloppys had their work cut out for them versus a determined opponent in The Volley Lamas. The Sloppys won the first set in extra points, 24-22. Relaxing a bit, they dropped the second set, but came back strongly in the third to claim victory and the championship by a 21-17 margin.

If you were playing poker, you'd want a hand full of aces to bring a win. And if you are playing volleyball, aces are also key to point production and advantage. To live up to their name, Nice Aces use a lot of aces to take over a game, thanks to the Power Brothers, Zac and Seiji Blume. These guys can get up off the sand like no one else and just crush the ball over for kill after kill. And with great accuracy. In the Midcore championship on Wednesday at Eastmoreland, the bros were helped by good setting from teammates Angela and Karole who also worked back court in saving a lot of whatever A Bunch of Beaches would throw at them. The Softcore 1 Championships came down to a final set with Bounce Back finding a way to put springs on their feet and jump for victory vs. the Dinkheads. After winning Game 1, Bounce Back was challenged in the second game by fierce determination and defense by the Dinks. But BB regrouped and rallied to land a convincing 21-9 win in Game 3 to claim their winning goods. Way to live up to your name, Bounce Backers!

Cheered on by their co-franchise partner team, the McGriffins II, McGriffins I got their first USL victory on the sand courts Thursday night. Battling a great competitor in Air Bud Spikes Back, McGriffs I had a fantastic night of teamwork, tenacity and timing by their squad led by POTG Micah, who brought the goods in energy and skills on defense. And we'll give a first place victory in support to their buds on McGriffins II who stuck around after their loss to cheer on the winners.

The Binge Dinkers obviously don't dwell on the past or pay attention to who currently wears the crown. All they focused on in the Midcore I championships was getting the win. And what a win it was! Facing five-year champions (in a row!), How I Set Your Mother, the Binge Dinkers made a formidable opponent and rose to the challenge. In one of the best matches of the year, these teams engaged in all out war with an intensity that was mesmerizing. Led by POTW Megan Thornton Poling who was absolutely killer on net defense, the Bingers were laser focused on every dig and assist. Hats off to HISYM's Jeff for launching kill after kill on offense, but his opponents were especially effective in returns. After winning a close first set, the Bingers dropped the second by a couple. The third set was neck and neck all the way with intense volleys. With Megan delivering the final service, and her teammates fighting for every volley, the Bingers won the game 22-20 and the match. Kudos to two excellent teams - we couldn't have asked for a better final!

Ace Inhibitors capped off a tremendous season with victory on Thursday night at Eastmoreland in the Midcore 2 championships. Facing off against Serves You Right, the Aces put up many points in service behind Joe Simonett's all around effort on offense and defense. The Aces enjoyed playing with a full squad, so everybody got in on the action and had a hand in the 3-0 set win. Plus, added bonus points for everyone showing up in uniform!!

Sets on the Beach and MassMutual Oregon showed they were the at the top of their league! These teams showed dominance and consistency all season. Both championship games went to a 3rd and final set, which really put their nerves to the test. In the end their teamwork and encouragement won it for them...and I guess some volleyball skills too..Nice work teams!

Spike the Punch was always ready for a great night of volleyball and tonight was no exception. They first had to knock off a very tough team in the third seeded Dirty Sand-Chez's. They went to the wire to make it to the championship but they rolled on into the finals against the number 1 seed Just the Tip. They were just getting warmed up as they swept the finals match is high fashion. They were serving up aces and making big hits. It was a great match. Way to go Spike the Punch!

Tanx and Spanx asked if we would have expected them to be a champion after night one. They doubted themselves but as a true Underdog, they never gave up and always had the most fun. So of course that attitude would be the making of a winning Underdog team. As first timers to Underdog, they came in giving it all they got all season long. That rolled right into the championship night where they first knocked off Hit it and Quit it in a 2 game sweep. They didn't have much time to cool off until they took on third seeded Not in the Face. They had two amazing game lead by some stellar serving from Cassie to seal the championship deal. Way to go Tanx and Spanx, we hope to see you out defending your sand title next summer!

The I'd Hit that team won the championship tonight with their consistency and amazing teamwork. All season these 4 players were there night in and night out. They always knew where to others were on the court and played like true champs, together. This last seeded team was up against the second seed tonight but they didn't let anything stop them. They played their game and never wavered from the way they always do it. They took home game 1 but the Bump Set Brews weren't going to go home without and fight and they came back and took game two using extra points. But game 3 went back to I'd Hit That. They didn't take the lead up they took the perfect timeout and recharged themselves to go out and take the game. They didn't look back after this and they went home our champions. Great work I'd Hit That!

Everyone stopped to watch the last point of this game, except it just kept going. A third game that rallies to 28-26 is a championship for the books. KP, Nathan and Kevin vs. the Red Raiders was one of those games! The Red Raiders came out strong in the first game and took the lead. Game two was all about the KP's. In a strong second game with big serves, they tied up the match. Game three was something else. The Red Raiders took and early lead up KP buckled down and made some great plays to even it up. There were 5 lead changes after they went to a tie 21-21 game. IT was an exciting 12 points to the finish and the KP, Nathan and Kevin team took home the championship. It was a fun match, great work champs!

The "Pop Up Blockers" are our latest Sunday night volleyball champs! This rag-tag group rose above the rest to take the top spot this season despite being indys!
As tends to be the case with indy teams, they had a bit of a rocky start losing two of their first three games. However, something clicked and they went on a four game winning streak, placing them into the playoff picture. Fortunately a Week 8 loss didn't knock them out of the playoffs entirely, but it did make for a bit of extra work being seeded as the #4 team.
In the playoffs they kept the streak rolling, winning their first two games in straight sets, 2-0. That included a stunning 2nd round win over the #1 seed, "I'd Hit That"!
In the championship game they took on "Let There Be Fock", and the match went to a third and final set. In the end it was "Pop Up Blockers" who once again showed the league that had what it took to be champions! Congratulations to them on a great season!
This team worked very well together! They fought hard to get into championship round and then again to win it! They had a lot of support and even some cheerleaders to encourage them :) There was definitely a lot of skill and determination! Good work team It's a Hard Bump Life!!

And last, but not least is Stephanie with her great attitude :) Way to play strong through the end team All About That Ace!!

What a win for "Scared Hitless"!! After a number of season in our Tuesday night league, this veteran squad was finally able to come out on top! An underdog heading into last night's playoffs, "Scared Hitless" has always been close. Last night they finally got over the hump, and it was great to see their skills truly shine in the playoffs. This is especially true for a team like them, which always displays the true nature of Xoso.
They played and won 3 total matches; the last of which went to game 3! That included wins over "Volley Llamas," the top-ranked "FC Amigos", and the #2 ranked "Good Volleybrations" in the championship. All night "Scared Hitless" showed off their excellent passing and spiking skills to come out on top. Great season everyone, and congratulations to "Scared Hitless" on the championship win!!
4th Ranked Safe Sets pulled a major upset by beating first ranked Surrey Tavern to win in the semi-finals and then fought through 3 games to win the match in the finals. The second game was a nail-biter with The Empire Spikes back winning the second game 23-21 and then losing by almost the same margin in the last game.

The "Beach Bums" are our Rec division champions, dominating the league from start to finish. They'd finish with a 7-2 record after securing the first championship spot with relative ease. They did hit a bit of a losing skid midway through the season dropping two in a row, but got back on schedule in time for the championship game.
Unlike our A division, this championship game was no contest as the "Beach Bums" swept "Spikes on the Beach" 2-0 while winning by a large margin in both games. It helped that their opponent only had four players all night, and by the time the championship rolled around those four were probably a bit tired thanks to the heat. Still, the "Beach Bums" didn't get overconfident, pouncing on every opportunity to build early leads. That plus their great service game led to their convincing wins last night.
Congratulations to the "Beach Bums", as they are able to add a Sand Volleyball title to their mantle!
The "Sand Blasters" are our Thursday volleyball A Division champs thanks to a comeback win! After dropping the first set in a tight back and forth affair they rallied to win the final two sets. That includes a whopping 21-9 blowout in the game-deciding 3rd set to make them the winners!
Throughout the season a bit of a rivalry formed between "Sand Blasters" and their championship opponent "Practice Safe Set", with both teams getting the best out of each other. Before our championship game the two teams faced off with a finals birth on the line for "Sand Blasters; win and they're in, lose and their season would be over. With that in mind "Sand Blasters" came out strong, winning the first two sets in that final regular season game to ensure their championship birth.
With fatigue possibly setting in after having played a full match already, the Sand Blasters dropped the first set in the championship, though it was a close one. They would regroup though, winning by a decent margin in game two while the unforced errors began to pile up for "Practice Safe Sets". On the other side of the net "Sand Blasters" got stronger as the night went on, finding a great offensive rhythm to go along with some fantastic team defense. When all was said and done, it was a 2 set to 1 victory for them. Congratulations to "Sand Blasters" on a terrific season!
"I'd Hit That" is our top Monday volleyball team! They had an excellent showing during the championship game after sliding through a first round due to forfeit. They lost their first game to" Fists of Fury", but composed themselves and came back strong in games two and three.
10-0 was their final record, going undefeated and putting the bow on the season with an impressive championship win. Their 2-1 finals win had everything from great passing, hitting, and defending. That wasn't a shock for anyone watching them play this season though, doing as they had been all season.
It was a fitting end for "I'd Hit That", the team who lost in the championship last season. And, not only did the win the championship this year, they completely outdid themselves, improving upon an already impressive 7-3 record from last season. Congratulations to them on a fantastic season, and we can be sure they're bound to make the finals again next season!
This team sprinted all the way to the end! Brian and Alex had some amazing spikes! Edward had hard serves and Patricia had consistent serves with a serving streak at one point that kept the points coming in! Between Jake's trick push set, Emmalee's nice sets & good chip hit, and Jessica's smooth passes & fun dance moves the game was awesome! Great job team Feets and 'betes!!

What a game! The final match was really something to watch. Both the Awkward High Fives and Serves You Right fought hard together as a team. The women of Sportland were on a volley high after last week's upset of #1 seed Straight Shots in the Wednesday Softcore playoffs at Tubman. And to make matters even better, their sole (soul?) guy on the squad, Mark Mendak, was able to rejoin them for the finals and add a cool presence at net. It's really tough to single out any one player on Sportland, because this team plays like some sort of a precision dance squad. (There is some dancing going on during their games, however.) They always have each other's backs no matter which position they're playing, and their support for each other is never in question. Bringing their wins from last week's semifinals into the finals, Sportland engaged in a fierce battle with the Volley Lamas, who were ready to fight to the finish. Such great games to witness with long volleys, spectacular defense and killer offense! Sportland managed to parlay their togetherness into two victories of 25-17 and 25-23 (this one with a lot of GRIT) and ultimately the coveted USL Champs headbands and Ex Novo gift card. Some heavy celebrating was in store! Congrats to Sportland and also to the Volley Lamas who never let up and performed to a sold out crowd of one (me)!

This team was unstoppable! Lots of points were racked up with Tracy's sweet pocket serves and Lindsey's tricky overhand short serves! The championship match was anything but a walk in the park! BLockheads versus How I Set Your Mother. Two teams that excelled all season and without question earned their spots in the final dance. We saw faces we hadn't in a while- and boy did we see some fantastic volleyball.
Game one started out fast and intense. Both teams had high energy, ran attacking options, and would not quit. The entire game was neck and neck until How I Set Your Mother put together a few points at the end to take game one.
Undeterred by the game 1 loss, BLockheads came out strong and took the lead in game 2. Still neck-and-neck, we saw some amazing digs after hitters crushed the ball, long rallies that seemingly would never end, diving saves, and crazy block coverage. Nothing was dropping. Both team showed fantastic flow and movement, like well-oiled machines. There was unity on both sides with celebrations and high-fives no matter how the point played out.
It wasn't until How I Set Your Mother string together a few serves did they begin to increase their lead. Game to was theirs, and so is the championship!
All season long, How I Set Your Mother proved to be an insurmountable team to play against. Everyone could pass, set, hit, and serve- a true power house. Congrats on the championship we can't wait to see you defend the title next season!
The weather wasn't the only hot thing on Monday night; First Baptist experienced a fiery championship game between Back That Ace Up and Poop Sandwich. "We Suck on Hardwood" is our latest Sunday Night Volleyball champion thanks to their outstanding team play! Even better, this team started out in our beginner league before making the jump to intermediate a year ago, and finally taking the championship title after seasons of hard work!
They entered the night as the #2 seed, meaning they had a real shot at the title entering the night. After #6 "I'd Hit That" upset "The Regulators" in round one, "We Suck on Hardwood" made quick work of them with a 2-0 sweep. On the other side of things "Spikological Warfare" took care of business as well, knocking out their opponent "Red Hot Tamales" in straight sets.
In the championship "Spikological Warfare" had the mental edge, having knocked out "We Suck on Hardwood" 3-0 earlier in the season. That was a different team over a month ago though, and "We Suck on Hardwood" showed how far they had come, sweeping their previously undefeated opponent 2-0. Quite the victory!
Congratulations to "We Suck on Hardwood" on an impressive win, after their humble beginnings in the beginner league!
After a frustrating couple of seasons where they faltered in the Midcore finals, the Net Ninjas decided that wasn't going to happen Thursday night at Tubman and finally reach their goal as champions. Led by POTW and Captain Scott Hoback's unbelievable heroics, the Ninjas let loose a fearsome attack to fight their way to the USL coveted championship headbands. After a lackluster showing and loss in the first set of the semifinal game vs. Some Spike It Hot, the Ninjas huddled and strategized some changes in rotation and defense. With Gloria, Chris and Sam's steady service, Niall, Nicole and Scott made sure that the net and back rows were covered by some pretty incredible volleys and digs. Through this steady teamwork, the Ninjas came back to win the final two sets and secure their spot in the championship game vs. Spiketastic, who had bested the Dinkheads in a 2-0 match earlier in the evening. With their semifinal game momentum going, the Ninjas never looked back and battled to a two game sweep of Spiketastic and finally put those USL headbands on to seal the deal. Congrats to all the Thursday Midcore teams this past Winter season - you made for some really great competition to enjoy!

"Good Volleybrations" is our newest Tuesday Night Volleyball champion after a great night of volleyball! They entered the playoffs as the top seed, thanks to a fantastic 8-0 regular season.
They finished with a strong +18 point differential, twice that of their championship opponent "FC Amigos", who ended in second place. In fact, "Good Volleybrations" defeated "FC Amigos" twice this season, furthering their case for best team this season. That included a 2-1 victory in a gripping championship game against the team which has finished second a season before and were hungry to win it all. Unfortunately for "FC Amigos" they'll have to try again, with "Good Volleybrations" besting them this season!
Congratulations to "Good Volleybrations" on finally getting over the hump and winning the championship. It's definitely well-deserved!

Congratulations to the Straight Shots for another championship Softcore title and to the Lamas for providing some great competition!

Spiking with Precision showed their strength in numbers tonight as they played for the softcore Championship. What's so great to watch about this team is overwhelming enthusiasm no matter what is happening on the court. They never stop encouraging each other, and tonight that lead them all the way to the champions circle! Round one they were up against the Volleyball Sacks, and finally they came to square off against Let's Talk About Sets, Baby!
What an awesome game to see! So many great volleys back and forth, dig after dig, spike after spike full of grit the purple emerged our champion. Congratulations Spiking with Precision!
Serves and Perves opened the night with their final matchup for the championship. A slight disadvantage since their opponent We Always Get it Up had already played and won a game before the final match. Serves and Perves arrived early to get some hits in and prepare for their match.
Their heads were ready and focused as they entered this final round play for all the marbles, or in this case headbands. Those headbands motivated Serves and Perves to dig every spike and hit literally everything that came over the net. Their serves were on point, their spikes direct and the back row was cleaning up digs left and right to set them back up front. They hustled, and in the closest final game we've seen tonight at the Eastmoreland courts they had the win.
Congratulations Serves and Perves!
Spike our Drink tonight had an epic battle to the top of the league for their first set of Champions headbands with Underdog for 2017. They started off the night with a very heated and close match against the E! True Volleyball Story. The first game a huge lead to start out and then down 2 points, the second game up 2 points. But that final round Spike our Drink found their momentum and came away with the win.
Then on to round two against the reigning #1 seed in playoffs Bump Set Brews. Their opponents were excited going into it that Spike our Drink had just used a lot of their energy to go three rounds with their first opponent of the evening. Would they be able to maintain their momentum into the finish? The answer is a powerful yes! Yes they were tired, yes they had played full out for an hour and a half already, and yes they would again come out victorious!
Great job Spike our Drink for an exciting round of playoffs at Harriet Tubman and we're excited to see you again in the coming seasons.

Team "Hit It and Quit It" had a great season, finishing with an overall record of 9-1 record on the season. They entered the playoffs as the number one seed and proved to everyone why.
In their first game of the night they defeated "Don't Block it 'til you try it" using they're meticulous 3 hit offense. They showed great ball control and made their first opponents work extremely hard for their one win. "Hit It and Quit It" then defeated "I'd Hit That" in the championship game 2-1. A few excellent serving runs made this victory possible against the strong challengers. Much like the first game, a strong passing game combined with a controlled bump, set, spike offense led them to victory. To top it off the win was a bit of sweet revenge with "I'd Hit That" being the lone team to take down "Hit It and Quit It" in the regular season.
Overall a great season for our champs!!
On Monday night at First Baptist Church, Dream Team 2.0 took on The BAdgers in a fight for the title of "champions". Both teams were hungry for the win, giving their all in every position. From powerful hits and blocks at the net, to back row dives across the court to dig hits, both teams played well. However, Dream Team 2.0 was able to edge out the competition with their outstanding performance. Their ability to connect with one another made for a smooth, efficiently running team. The entire season they excelled, serving up the perfect 6-0 regular season. Week after week, remarkable saves, serves, and rallies! Coming into the post season as the (1) seed, they had their eyes set on the prize and only 3 matches stood between them and the coveted champions headbands.
The first post-season match was closer than expected as the (8) seed put up a fight and took one of the games. Thursday Night Sets kept their cool and moved on to the next round. The (1)/(5) match up was a competitive warm-up for Thursday Night Sets, but they were on their game and moved on to the finals where they faced off against the (2) seed. The championship match was a nail biter! Thursday Night Sets narrowly took the first game, lost the second, and rallied to hold on in the third.
The perfect 9-0 season was celebrated at Bill's where the team recapped the season and made plans for the next.
This Tuesday BLockheads took the Underdog Volleyball Championship title at First Baptist Church! During this season BLockheads have perfected working in unison as a team, and earned point after point with smart plays. This week the team endured through two tough games and won the championship with consistent serves and kills. They've also got some serious HOPS N' BLocks! The team does an amazing job of utilizing each players strengths and always have a blast on the court. Thanks BLockheads for an amazing season, and Congratulations on the Championship!

Quickness to the ball, great communication, and fiery attacks gave Setters of Catan the edge they needed to bring home the gold, (or in their case, some stylish gold-embroidered Underdog sweatbands). They demonstrated upbeat energy all night, which ultimately propelled them to victory. Congrats Setters of Catan!

The championship match between Notorius D.I.G and RiDigulous was won by team RiDigulous! Betsy's sets were great and so were Kyle's serves. Caroline had an untouchable pocket hit and Jason had some crazy good spikes. There was super hustle on the court :) Abby had a notable dig out of the net and Alex this amazing save tip that was just inches from the antennae. Awesome game play this season team RiDigulous!!

Double Fireball started the evening off with an intense match against team Bag O' Digs winning 2-1. Then went on in the third hour to win 2-0 against team Bump Up the Jam! The whole team worked hard with lots of hustle to win the championship. They also had a lot of fun along the way with jumping high fives :) Tony had some amazing saves and Derek started the second match off with six great serves in a row. Vanessa never let the ball drop while Sarah kept giving perfect soft sets. Kevin had a lot of power behind his spikes and Dave had quick reactions with a one arm pass from off of the ceiling. Great work team Double Fireball!!

If you have ever needed a reason to work out, then here it is! I Work Out came out on top at Seattle Central last Thursday. In a game against a strong opponent, their teamwork was essential to securing the title of champions. Not all teams can communicate as great as they can. Congratulations!

Last Thursday at Seattle Central, the Bad News Bears were able to take the championship title. Every set against their opponent was hard fought. Points were constantly going back and forth between teams. Ultimately the Bad News Bears edged out the competition. In the end, there was good news for the Bad News Bears - Congratulations on becoming Champions!

It seems fitting that there be a championship matchup between the two sets; Rough and Hot. While there was obvious competition simply between the team names, the competition on the court stacked up just as high. The scores were extremely close in every game, but Rough Sets came out on top. Congratulations!

In a championship match between two equally skilled and equally competitive teams, Jenn and Friends emerged on top. When Oooh Killem would deliver a kill, Jenn and Friends was quick to deliver one back. They never backed down from anything that the opposing team would send to their side. Congratulations, Jenn and Friends, for your victory!

I'd Hit That" is our Tuesday night Volleyball League champion for the second time in row thanks in part to their strong will and experience, having to play from behind in the finals early on. Still, all that matters is the 'W', and they earned it!
Overall it was a successful 9-1 season for the now two-time champs, dropping just one contest in the regular season. That game was a tough 2-1 loss to "Great Balls of Fire", but they seemed to bounce back just fine picking up back to back 3-0 wins in the following weeks.
In the first round of the playoffs "Great Balls of Fire", who went on to finish second, was upset by #3 "FC Amigos" while our veterans made quick work of the "Volley Llamas", setting up our championship.
In the championship game our defending champs faced an early test. They had to rally in first game with an exciting comeback after "FC Amigos" took a pretty big lead. Anticlimactically, the second game was won quickly thanks to great passing and smart decision making by "I'd Hit That." Another great season for them as they continue to get better and better each season. Congratulations to "I'd Hit That" for defeating "FC Amigos" 2-0 tonight to secure the title once again!
The "Fockateals" are our Sunday Night Volleyball champs for the second season in a row, once again establishing their dominance in our intermediate league. This season they went 9-1, boasting a +13 point differential along the way.
Their lone loss this season was in the final week of the regular season to "I'd Hit That", in a game that meant much for their opponents than it did for them. The win did punch a playoff ticket for "I'd Hit That", but they would go on to lose in the first round in a two sets to none sweep.
The winners, "Serving Cerveza", took on "Fockateals" in their second round matchup after our champs got a bye in round one as the top team during the season. "Serving Cerveza" played them tough, but similar their match-up earlier this season, just couldn't quite get over the edge against the playoff-hardened "Fockateals". In the end it was a 2-1 "Fockateals" win.
In the other half of the bracket the #2 seeded "Black Mambas" enjoyed their first round bye while the #6 "Team B" made quick work of #3 "The Regulators" 2-0. It was a disappointing end to their season for "The Regulators" who were expected to at least make the second round.
In the game that followed "Team B" fought hard, but the "Black Mambas" were just too good a team for this group of indys to take on. Like their namesake the "Black Mambas" were able to hit hard and in succession, finally knocking their opponent out with a final third set win.
The long awaited championship featured our top two teams from the season, but in the end there was only one deemed worthy. This season that was the "Fockateals", who seemed immune to the deadly bite of the "Black Mambas", instead sweeping them off the floor and not even needing a third set to become two-time champions.
Congratulations to "Fockateals" on another successful season. We can't wait to see whether they are able to make it three in a row!
Team Extreme completed a near perfect season in Late Fall at Thursday Tubman league. The Extreme came into the finals as #1 seed and they showed no signs of letting that ranking go. Firing on all cylinders, TE got busy behind Bob and Sara's service, Shane, Steven and Simone's sets, ups and net work and won in convincing fashion vs. Sets on the Beach in two games, 25-9 and 25-9. Sets on the Beach won two tough games against a pesky opponent in Net Ninjas in the semifinals in order to face TE. Congratulations to all three teams who provided some outstanding competition in the final week of Late Fall!

The Dinkheads had a challenge ahead of them on Wednesday night at Tubman Softcore semifinals - that was the Blundercats' determination not to come away without a spot in the finals. Dinkheads came out strong in the first game with a win sparked by the heads up play by Beau on defense. They lost a little bit of focus in the second by dropping the set, 25-18. After a regrouping and pep talk, the Dinks came out much better in the third set by a close margin and beat the 'Cats, 25-22. On to the Championship game where the Volley Lamas came in fresh from a week rest ready to challenge. The Dinks appeared to be a little fatigued in the first set for a loss, but found new energy amid some fantastic volleys and fierce service by Carrie and were victorious in the second and third sets to come from behind and take the USL wristbands, Ex Novo gift certificate and Wednesday Softcore crown. Great season to all the Wednesday Softcore teams and especially to the Dinkheads who proved their #1 seed!

Watching PPPSS play throughout the night was extremely exciting. Playing with a limited number of teammates they still managed to display a stellar performance. Team Block You Like A Hurricane came out on top! Each player is talented in different ways and combined the team brings it :) Colin as team captain was always on the ball leading his teammates with great hustle and dives. AJ used his abilities to do great spikes and tips that were placed well. Ariel's passes helped keep things flowing smoothly. Taylor had some beautiful sets. Daniel's spikes were hard to dig. Rachel had 12 serves in a row at one point, low and fast. Great job team BYLAH, you rocked it!!

"Fists of Fury" is our Monday night champion for the third straight season. This time around they showed quite the level of dominance, finishing with a 10-0 record and +20 point differential, including back-to-back sweeps in the playoffs en route to their three-peat.
There weren't many bumps in the road this regular season for "Fists of Fury", who swatted opponents away effortlessly like Bruce Lee, and that theme continued through the playoffs as well. "Fists of Fury" came out firing with big serves that their first round opponent "Team C" just couldn't handle. That, combined with great passing, made it a quick 2-0 victory for the eventual champs.
In the other half of the playoff bracket "Can't Block This" battled fiercy with the "Net Ninjas". All three games were neck and neck, but superior digging from "Can't Block This" made all the difference. With that great defense, they secured a tough 2-1 win and a trip to the finals.
In the championship game "Fists of Fury" came out on top with a solid 2-0 win over "Can't Block This". It was a close match but the experience from the two-time champs certainly helped against their opponents' great defense. In all a great season for them, and for everyone, who made it to the playoffs this season.
Congratulations once again to "Fists of Fury" on the championship!
Sets on Sets on Sets were ready to get the W tonight!. They played a double header to earn there title but with a break inbetween their games they had to get warmed up in the championship. They were up against the tough I Dig Casual Sets team who wasn't going home without a fight tonight, But after a wake up call in the first game, Sets on Sets on Sets got down to the point and took the last two games. It was a great season for the Sets! Congrats!

Gratuitous Sets came back to Underdog after a few seasons off from volleyball and they were ready to show that they still had it. This team came out swinging from the start of the season and they did it all the way through their double header championship night.. It was a sweep tonight for Gratuitous Sets but it wasn't an easy sweep. They had two tough competitors but they kept playing strong. They were on their serving game and were ready for every tip that came their way. Great work GSV, Congrats!

Lifes Too Short for Bad Sets was in the mind frame of no bad days, because they were playing calm cool and collected tonight. They were ready for the hits and tips that came their way and sent it back with a little pepper on it. This team was new as a group to Underdog but they never gave up and were always ready to play! It wouldn't say it was beginners luck, but they worked hard for each and every play! Great work LTSBS!

It was a close night for the How to Kill a Blocking Nerd but they made it through! The first round they took the two game lead but their opponents didn't going down easy. They came back and kept their lead winning the first two. They then made it to the finals! They now faced the united Vollipops! The first match looked like a revolutionary war standoff. Both teams loaded, fiered l, then retreated to stand their ground. There were some amazing rally's and the teams battled through. The second round How to Kill a Blocking Nerd came out swinging. In under 2 minutes no Vollipop was left standing. The tigers took the next match and a comfortable lead 3-0. There was no doubt who the champs were and they made the game fun for everyone with no hard feelings. Great season How to Kill a Blocking Nerd!

Killin' it couldn't be a more fitting name, this team really did kill it this season! Killin' It is a team full of great sportsmanship and athleticism! They maintain high energy on the court and always encourage each other. Their defense and digs are on point and they have a group full of powerful swingers at the net! Killin' It has both hops and blocks along with quick feet that cover the court! The team is smart about serve and attack placement and communicate great as a team! Thank you Killin' It for playing with Underdog and congratulations on the Championship!

First Baptist was in for a great night of volleyball when Notorious D.I.G. was matched against Oooh Killem to compete for the Championship title. The two very skilled teams were relentless throughout all of the sets. When Oooh Killem would deliver a kill, Notorious D.I.G. would deliver one right back. They would, as in their name, dig anything hit their way! Both teams were hungry to win, evident in the close scores. Set one was 25-22, set two 25-22, and set three 26-24. Ultimately Notorious D.I.G. came out with the win. Their dedication to playing as a smooth working unit and never giving up on any ball is what pushed them to the top. Congratulations!
I'd Hit That did just that... they HIT THAT. This team swept through the bracket faster than the little birdies swept the floor in The Seven Dwarves. Three games total for this windy Tuesday night, these men and women fought harder with every game! By game three they were talking of how tired they were, how exhausted they were, and just how good a beer from Bill's off Broadway would be. Alas! They never gave up and in the end they persevered!! Not to mention, they looked damn good in those Champ headbands.

Our champions tonight are The E! True Volleyball Story! It's quite a story this round of mid-core competition. Team braved the freezing temperatures, the no drinkable water in the building, and some fierce competition tonight after being off on holiday for two whole weeks.
Down in the first game, they came back hard to win two, pushing The E! forward into the final round of the night. Blocks, kills, and volleys that went on forever ensued well into the second game of round two. They were neck and neck but The E! pulled out victorious.
Congratulations E! on your 2016 champions win!
